My friend passed away, and she was a big fan of your game, I feel bad because she will never be able to play deltarule, it's unfair that I can and she can't, that's why I wanted to ask you to put a little piece of her in the game, like the name of her in the credits, she was one of his biggest fans.

I always found it neat how Undertale is a synonym for Cavestory

A lot of in game Cave Story content never made it in, like Wind Fortress. Hell, even some derivative games that take heavy inspiration from it never saw the light of day (The Underside :c)

Wind Fortress one of the best tracks

Excellent track. I was barely a teenager when it came out, and I played it many times, still didn't find all the secrets. It occupied my headspace for a long time after.

Some of the tunes remind me undertale songs too come to think of it… “Pulse” has similar vibes to some of the tunes in a way that’s hard to describe “Tyrant” has a similar energy to “Here We Are” “Cave Story” is used in a similar place in the game to that of “Undertale” Was this an inspiration? :o

I always had a feeling the name “Undertale” was in some way a nod to Cave Story, like how the name “Homestuck” is a reference to Earthbound. Neat to know that wasn’t a coincidence 😮

Such an amazing soundtrack. Listening to it now is very nostalgic. The influence definitely makes sense! It's been so many years since I first played Cave Story... Has it really been 20 years... ? My back hurts just thinking about it.

In fact, playing the free version is way better than playing the Steam version because the dev gets no royalties for the version Nicalis scrapped together.

When I first played Cave Story u always thought it sounded somewhat similar to Undertale even the character designs so it's nice to see it eas an inspiration

I played the original Cave Story, but I'm not sure if I should get Cave Story+ on Steam for $2.99. (I just bought Undertale during the ongoing winter sale...)

My friends scoffed at me for paying for it in DSi because they played it free on PC. I loved the portability though and may have to play through it again.

It's incredible to learn that it influenced you so profoundly and it makes me happy you shared this openly. That original version is the first game me and my fiancée got to know each other over as high schoolers with not a lot of money. Years later, it ended up inspiring the engagement ring.
