Welcome to the bsky game dev orientation 🧵! Let's get you started with the basics of bsky, finding other game devs, and posting about your games! Btw, this is based on the amazing artist orientation thread from @purlane.ink; make sure to check it out if you’re also in the art side of game dev!

Welcome to the Bluesky artist orientation 🧵! This will get you started on the basics of how this network works, how to connect with other artists, and how to get your art seen. If you’re a furry, I also highly recommend checking out @buttplug.engineer's furry orientation thread below:

Thank you SO MUCH for the inspiration and the format! After posting almost the exact same 3 replies on every dev intro, I think this is going to make it a lot easier for folx to get started. ❤️

Absolutely!! I think you cover all the important bases to get people comfortable and acquainted with the platform. Will 100% make it easier for everyone here! 🫡

Hello, fellow devs. I'm glad to be finally on board here. I've quit my job to become a game dev, pixel artist, sound FX designer, and composer. I'm currently developing Archrebel which is a heartfelt tribute to the classic Rebelstar by Julian Gollop.

First, you’re going to want to write up your intro skeet! Don’t bother making it a reply in any of the intro threads, tho… we’ll get to that in a bit. Include the #GameDev tag to ensure your intro shows up in the game dev feed. 😍

Next, let’s talk about custom feeds. They’re a whole big topic all on their own, so I wrote up a thread about them. TL;DR - Custom feeds are community-managed timelines that you can subscribe to.

WHAT IS A CUSTOM FEED‽ A lot of people are still confused about it, so I figured a thread might help clarify. On other social platforms, algorithms are governed by the platform owners. On bsky, algorithms are created, owned, and managed by the community (gimme that means of production bebe).
