Hey #GameDev, what are everybody's thoughts on ads in the game dev feed? I'm looking for ways to support my work, so lemme explain about what this would look like. 🧵

I feel like any acceptance for intrusive monetization, is just going to be immediately adopted by and exacerbated to the worse possible incarnation by larger corporate run developers.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Are you saying that large corps will take advantage of me if I allow ads? Or just that money corrupts and even if I'm well-intentioned things will go awry?

Things will definitely go away, and you need to reconsider this. Ads are not it.

I have considered this. I think I've been a decent steward of the community here and I've demonstrated not only that I have decent judgment, but also that I am willing to admit when I'm wrong or I fuck up. If ads aren't working, I hope y'all will tell me and give me the grace to solve it.
