I had an opportunity to get on the phone with @toni.bsky.team this morning. As always, I'll remain skeptical until we see results, but I hung up feeling hopeful that the guy at the helm may, indeed, be able to right the ship.

Excellent follow up. I had a brief interaction with @toni.bsky.team at the conf and he strikes me as someone with the humility and willingness to listen that’s needed right now. Glad to hear your conversation further backed up that feeling!

What's very true is that nothing happens at the protocol level without 'buy-in' from Bluesky PBC, that's why the IETF is a good first step; but it needs the independence, speed, and authority to rule against established interests. I remain open-minded, we'll see where things go from here...
