What do you recommend for that? For reals, the only thing I hear from people when I ask ar the same 2-3 books. Is there some good material for programming, rather than languages?
There's plenty of generalized topics and resources that are language-agnostic -- data structures & algorithms, Pragmatic Programmer - - but won't necessarily make sense if you don't already know how to program (I'd wager more often than not, any examples will be in a C-style language or Python).
How about learning both ? Also languages might be slightly more useful, and saying that as someone learning 4th language and has developed in multiple programming languages :)
Strongly disagree) Amount of candidates who looking for a job as a developer are huge. Plus, a lot of companies recently dismissed a lot of people. So, no) Do not learning programming. Not now)
