Best framework for small and medium sized game jams. Also @kapendev.bsky.social is such a helpful person If you ask him about the project. During a game jam I did, he basically patched the library in realtime for me, multiple times. Incredible

Parin v0.2.0 is out! A simple 2D game engine for D, somewhere between raylib and Godot. No editor, no mandated architecture. Just code. New: Steamworks, ENet, Box2D, LLDB helpers, Zed support, new WASIp1 backend, parin:server github.com/Kapendev/parin #gamedev #indiedev #dlang

I'm almost certain there is nothing more disengaging than a slides presentation, which is voiced by AI with background music on top of the garbage pile. lol

Does someone know a nice entry level tutorial to hadware engineering? I want to build something with a Raspberry Pi and a few sensors and displays. Bit i don't know shit about how I don't fry all the components all the time. Is there something out there?

I'm currently researching what would happen if something like the sword of sargeras from WoW would be put into a planet. I can already say that the thing that happened in the game is not what would really happen. But what I also can say, Azeroth has a radius of about 24 kilometers max.

Which is, to put it scientifically, fucking smol for a planet. Now I have to delve through this rabbit hole and see if the overworld makes any sense or if the devs at Blizzard just make stuff up :o :o :o

What I don't understand is, when I join an online meeting with headphones on, nobody around me can hear what I am hearing. But when I speak, they can still here me. Weird. I'd expect when I have headphones on what I say only goes to the meeting...

I think there is a blessing in not knowing how to do stuff in video editing software. Im just getting started with editing a few clips of my guild doing random stuff in WoW raids (i know, nerd lol) and it's hilarious how bad I am at editing, so the clips are super bad aswell. Makes them even better.

Thanks for reaching out to me regardning my new logo design on my now deleted post. I've found someone who is on my page with the artistic direction I have imagined for it. Thanks again everyone! Appreciate all of you

dating apps train people to dehumanise others. desensitised to saying no to countless faces. they aren’t real. everyone is a set of stats to be judged. i wonder how much this fuels other real world interactions. this is the problem in our current modern world. LLMs just make it all worse.

Guys. I trained a model that generates you money when infering. It hits an unfathomable 56 on the AI intelligence smartness IQ index and comes in 3 versions. AbiogenesisX, AbiogenesisXtreme and Abiogenesis Gigaultracodeextreme. But it's too dangerous to release. But I take VC money.

I thought this was a pretty interesting take from Codeberg's announcement of their anti-LLM policy They argue that many developers using LLMs are essentially heaven-banning themselves where they don't realize they're developing for a nonexistent community

I was playing Tennis for the first time in 24 years today and I can tell you, I am a bit rusty lol. But it's funny, sometimes muscle memory flashed up which did not help either because 24 years ago my arms we're a lot shorter lol

I really like to explore new and small YouTube channels, especially in the math and tech area. But oh boy is there much slop. Nearly all videos are AI narrated. Id rather hear your heavy russian-scottish broken accent than garbage AI narration. If you are new to YouTube please give your voice a go.

I really enjoy being invited to events like birthday parties or weddings, but my social battery needs a long time to recover. I feel hungover for multiple days after such 12-24 hour events and I don't even drink alcohol most of the time. After a wedding marathon I now need rest for like 10 weeks lol

Hello @racket-lang.org I just wanted to ask how your contribution guidelines regarding LLM code is. I really like Racket but I see more and more LLM code from reputable contributors to your ecosystem and I wonder If there is a official statement about genAI code in Racket and Rhombus.

@godotengine.org what are you doing? I really like that you have a solid stance against AI but using AI for stuff like find and replace or regex where we have tools that do exactly this but deterministically like, actual find and replace and regex, is an error source you didnt even know existed.

Putting trillions into AI to make work MoRe EfFiCiEnT and instantly adopting the tech is apparently a smart idea. But stop using bloated ass web frameworks and starting using programming languages which actually make developers more productive instead of Python, JS/TS or PHP is basically impossible.

Why do people think it's only now that the slop machines run rampant, they can build whatever they want? Do they think so little of themselves that they can't imagine learning things and just start building? Building stuff is not magic, especially programming is super easy. All information is free.

I have to disagree with Big Shaq on one point. We all agree that 2+2=4 and -1 equals 3 and that it was indeed quick maths. But man's fucking hot, I'm telling you. I think I'm melting.

Same in Software engineering. Just look at any repository in GitHub and search for the commit that added an AGENT.md file. Afterwards the quality just tanks. I'm not a tin foil boii but it looks like deskilling experts is an actual goal of those companies.

What I don't get about AI Bros and vibe coders. They specify exactly in detail to the LLM which directory of the project is meant for random ass markdown files because otherwise it wouldn't understand anything about anything. But they let them loose on their codebase like "this is fine lol".

I finalised the write up of my Indie #TTRPG rule book. I've done this as part of a game jam. Are there good tools out there to make zines and resources to learn such tools? I'd love to make it public to download but currently it looks like a thesis because it's basically written in LaTeX lol

Let's pretend I've written a rulebook for a TTRPG and it reads like a 9 year old has written it because my first language isn't english and it is the first semi extensive multi page document I've written since my bachelors thesis aeons ago. Are there people that don't use AI out there I can pay to

I entered a game jam where you have to create a TTRPG instead of a video game. It's incredible hard to come up with a novel skill check mechanic. I always have the feeling that every possible mechanic is already invented. Then I look at some indi TTRPG and there is SO MUCH novel stuff. Incredible

Where are the smart Lisp people that make Common Lisp go brrrr in the browser as WASM? I say, It can't be that hard, and I have no idea what needs to be done to get it to work properly. So i'm right.

Trying to get a toolchain ECL -> C -> Emscripten -> WASM to run is fun. Especially If you don't know shit about 2/3 of those things and you don't know If it's even possible. But I learn a lot of ways to segfault a program which is nice. Bonus: ecl generated C looks nearly as bad as LLM code lol

Shout out to people who have wanted to argue about the meaning of the word "valuable" when I've argued that AI is, by definition, not valuable because nobody will be willing to pay what it actually costs when vendor subsidies are removed.

Ed Zitron@edzitron.com

Today Microsoft moved all its GitHub copilot subscribers to token-based billing. If you want to see what happens when people have to pay the actual costs of AI, the day is finally here. It's obvious that every customer sees the deep, meaningful value and isn't angry at all.
