Normalize using "Informatics" instead of "Computer Science". Real Science doesn't need the word "Science" in its name. Just like "Physics".

I heard someone say "calling it computer science is like calling medicine 'knife science'"

@thelushkitch.bsky.social

What about "Christian Science"???? Checkmate!

@torbernight.bsky.social

Well, in my university all exact and natural science careers have "science" in their name, so at least it's consistent Like, you have "physical science", "biological science", "mathematical science", etc.

@torbernight.bsky.social

the only exceptions are paleontology and oceanography tho

@axlefublr.bsky.social

right, just call it computer

As we are it, normalize using "Octet" instead of "Byte" :D

Informatics sounds so informal though. I get it, hard sciences don’t need to say they’re science, except environmental science which I think counts. However, engineering trades always announce that they’re engineering. CS is really more math though, isn’t it?
