Will never forget my chat with a friend who animated on Homecoming. Me: How often did you guys use the digital double in the movie? Him: Every time he’s in the suit. Me: Right but when he’s just standing ther- Him: Every. Time.

It's so exhausting to see ppl assume VFX is lazy or bad or whatever. I love practical effects, but suggesting it's some magic bullet to making a good film is just silly. Project Hail Mary and "no greenscreen" comes to mind. It doesn't mean there's no VFX -- just that the roto will be more difficult.

I can’t wait for detailed breakdowns of the VFX in The Odyssey.

Yet again showing the "practical is always better than cgi" people have NO FUCKING CLUE what they're talking about.

Backrooms even has scenes that are entirely Blender, as it should be.

Shh no he is its ok

Unfortunately, people really don't understand what VFX actually entails. They don't see the grunt work stuff like keying or rotoscoping out lighting, rigging, or sound equipment. They don't realize how good visual effects aren't easily identifiable.

What's especially infuriating is there are large blocks of VFX artists and crew in the credits for all of these films -- it's not like it's a secret! What do these people think, that DNEG paid the several hundred artists credited on "The Odyssey" to sit around and twiddle their thumbs?

Spider-Man BND really raised the bar for VFX. It did things with those skyscraper scenes the previous entries could only dream of.

i heard it's all practical spidermen
