South Australia has spent years patiently constructing one of the world's first big 100% clean grids. Its reward? Industries are *flocking* there to take advantage. Peak load is expected to double in coming years. Go green, make green.

Hey David - I'm running for congress in Eastern WA and I'm advocating for a federal agrivoltaics cost-share program specifically for small and mid-size farms. Would love to come on Volts to talk policy mechanics if that's interesting to you. Cheers!

Is it true that South Australia actually had a culturally conservative reputation before they went all Green on their grid? Also I wonder if BYD EVs will be big in Australia, since Tesla sales are crashing in the Land Down Under?

I suppose the main difference is that we never (knock on wood) turned right like the Midwest states have - and the grid build-out ensuring our "rust belt" era didn't last for very long clearly helped. (One Nation did make headlines here recently - but so far that's the right eating itself.)

That website is awesome. You can follow there Australia decarbonization efforts to fight against despair. So much happening there: electricity generation, crazy levels of solar & battery in homes, renewable microgrids in isolated communities, huge mining company going real zero by 2030 & much more
