Too f-cking late! Thanks, Mitch for paving the way, equivocating on our values as a nation, obfuscating the obviously reprehensible behaviors, and packing the Supreme Court with corporatists and RW culture warriors and sycophants. Refusing to convict this POS DJT has paid dividends to you and yours.

Too little too late! He is the reason we are stuck with this narcissistic team of dictators! If he would have been ethical during the Obama administration, things would have been better. He should have voted to convict Trump on the couple of impeachments. Now he wants to be in the opposition??

Fox News using WhiteHouse provided ‘word spin’ - what Trump is doing is common sense”. Gov Corruption on massive scale Disregarding judicial orders Disregard Constitution Retaliation on apposition Tariffs that raise prices Musk access our info Screwing Ukraine,Europe Ethnic cleansing in Gaza

That weasel had the chance to finish off trump when he was impeached but bottled it for his own selfish interests. He will be remembered in history and for all the wrong reasons

No. Just no. He did nothing to prevent what's happening now by allowing trump to skate on TWO impeachment trials. He doesn't get to be any lonely voice of resistance ever. Everything terrible trump does should be tied directly back to McConnell saving him twice. Screw him.

A shame Sen. Lummins does not comprehend she took an oath to be loyal to her American citizens not a political party. McConnell offered assurances & leadership to the mess we are in now so there is no covering up. Voting NO on what he knows will pass will not stop history from his horrific truths

Just laughable. Mitch is a lame duck and he fully cooperated in harnessing MAGA sentiments to take the GOP to victory. His objecting on the way out the door is pure posturing. The man has no soul. Do better reporting.

the correct framing is that all of this is his fault and now he's powerless, old and an afterthought after believing he was influential and hateful enough to control rabid fascists. his hatred and narcissism invited this, and ruined the country.

Unless he starts pushing for Impeachment, publicly, loudly, and gathering votes for it, then it's meaningless and we can go right back to ignoring the man who got us here in the first place. He had several opportunities to end this, he passed on all of them. Fuck him and his insincerity

Too bad Mitch is a day late and a dollar short. He had tRump by the short hairs and decided to be a partisan hack and set him free. I hope he has sleepless nights of profound remorse.

Mitch McConnell allowed us to get to cliff's edge of outright fascism and now is suddenly against it? I suppose he's better than the other former establishment GOPers who abandoned decades-long held principles for political expediency, but at the same time: fuck Mitch McConnell.

If he was really resisting he would have gotten some of his republican buds to get on board. He is just a self serving piece of garbage just like his republican cronies. tRump is destroying this country and he knows it very very well.

Struggles between Dems and Reps we all know. But a darker undercurrent is running beneath the surface of American politics right now, of which even many in congress know nothing or very little. It stems from some weird but very rich men’s plans to remake the US without democracy. Vance is their man.

The initial game plan calls for rendering Congress and the Judiciary irrelevant by aggressive executive action. It’s all openly spoken of by Yarvin and Thiel, and others, who would be nothing but a club of nerdy sci-fi weirdos except that they have enough money to do the damage they want to do.

All empty bravado. He bears responsibility for this as he could have prevented it in the first place. An empty gesture from an empty individual. Chinless invertebrate makes me wish there was a Hell for him to rot in.

The 12th of February 2025 will be one of the darkest days for America's relationship with its allies. The US stated that "it would not stand by its allies" by giving in to the explicit wishes of Putin and Russia. It is now clear to the allies that the US cannot be blindly trusted anymore.

He's responsible since Obama... holding up judicial nominees, not introducing bills to the floor, not negotiation with Dems. Now trump has kicked him to the curb, like he'll do with Collins, Ernst and Murkowski ASAP. What patsys they are.

McConnell is single-handedly the person most responsible for setting the stage for the crisis we're in. That's the story. He set up SCOTUS as they stand today and could have led impeachment efforts but chose not to. He's not responsible for Trump/Musk actions but he is for them being there today.

Pushing back? Give me a fucking break. His votes against trump nominees are a fucking joke as he has already counted noses and knows his no vote is meaningless

Never mind, this is some BS: If a U.S. Senator from Kentucky resigns, the governor of Kentucky appoints a temporary replacement. However, due to a 2021 law, the governor must select the replacement from a list of three candidates provided by the departing senator’s political party.

ky leg changed it again last year that Beshear can’t appoint anyone at all & there’s only allowed a special election - but I believe Beshear is suing over both & thinking is he might ignore them anyway

I agree he paved the way for this administration. The bare minimum he could have done was vote to impeach AND remove Trump during Trump Part I. But my question is Why is he pushing back now? He is not going for re-election (in a blue state). He is retiring in a Red state. So, what is this really?

Needless to say, if only he had stood up when they had a chance to get rid of Trump in the first term, we wouldn't be in this mess. Now that he is not seeking re-election ... too little too late.
