My personal experience of filing for benefits in March was a processing time of over 60 days while the website continues to state a 30 day processing time.

Abolish all metrics. That way an authoritarian government can make all sorts of productivity and performance claims. No way to verify. Everything will just be normalized as being bad. Any Russian citizen will tell you that.

“Social security” is a cynical joke in the USA, where selfishness and religion prevail. What's more, they fundamentally detest the socialist paradise that is the EU. In the EU, health care and social security are human rights. Only American expats have discovered this european reality with pleasure.

Yeah maybe you should have I don't know endorsed somebody and not spent the entire election season sanewashing Trump and endlessly reporting on Biden's age and lying to your readers about Project 2025. That would have been really great for your readers. Maybe even helpful.

One off coverage like this is useless. Hire some data visualization people and put together a proper dashboard tracking government service times and service levels and report the big picture. Even if the next admin fixes it, will all be meaningless noise like much of WaPo now.

Why are we surprised? This admin does not work for the amer public. It works for the wealthy who don’t pay taxes & don’t wish to pay taxes. I truly hope the ppl who voted for this obscenity of an admin take responsibility for this mess. Be better.

I tried to call the main number the other day and the recording said ,"at least a 120 minute wait time." So is that 2 hours or 5 hours? I called my local office and it was about 10 min. They were very helpful.
