EVs are garbage. In fact, most vehicles period are garbage. Overpriced garbage. I have a manual Toyota and a manual Mazda both of which continue to run problem free and at over 35MPG with no payments. I won't buy an automatic, a CVT, or a turbo, and from what I hear no one else is buying them either

OK. The average car payment is over $1,000 a month and the average insurance payment is over $500 a month. $1,500 a month buys one hell of a lot of gas, even at today's prices. And it won't cost $20,000 to replace a battery.

The hell they do. You're just going to ignore the car payment, the full coverage insurance payment, the battery replacement cost? LOL. It costs me less than $100 a month to fill my daily driver and it costs more than than to charge an EV.

Hmmm... I'm in the UK... bought a used EV for cash, fully comprehensive insurance was that same as I paid for my ICE vehicle, it costs me £0.02 per mile to drive (roughly 2.7 cents)... the battery will last 15-20 years, I'll likely be dead before it is.

I hate to burst your gish gallop but... Replacing a battery is like needing to replace the drive train in a gas car. You going to replace the engine at 150k miles, when it wears out, too? $100 gets you a Prius 1500 miles at $4 a gallon. $100 also gets a Silverado EV 1500 miles at 20¢ a kWh.

First car I bought as an adult was a bmw Z4 manual. The first time I drove the hills of San Francisco was baptism by fire. As much as I miss that car (traded it in when we had our first kid), I love not having to go to the gas station anymore

After four decades of driving manual cars, trying to drive an automatic is torture. My left foot still keeps trying to press the non-existent clutch. Also, the other pet hate is the electric handbrake. On some models, simply finding it is an adventure! Give me manual controls every time.

Our last car was a stick, and it was great fun to drive. But, it was an older car and we opted to go automatic for our new car. Maybe our next car will be electric. We would have bought a Tesla, but Musk went full Nazi.

I'm a boomer. Of course I know how to drive a stick. I was surprised to learn that my Gen-X girlfriend couldn't drive a stick. We found out when she had to drive me to an emergency clinic with my eyeballs swelling out of my head. Luckily, it was close-by, and just an allergic reaction.

Here is my take on this. It is clear to me that when it comes to manual transmission. It's evolution has not changed. It's just a matter of cost and whether the manufacturer believes that they can put this in with any new model including electric vehicle. Ex. The hyudai Ioniq five N.
