Oh man that background

The internet was so much better back then.

Back when Id was too cool for their Commander Keen roots! I think it is on Steam now though.

I'm going to have to watch this company, they're going places!

Someone else messed it up. So now I liked it.

Wild Stallyns, please

I remember ordering Quake over the phone. Man, was I excited, and man, did that game deliver!

Good times. I remember when <tables> was pretty much the only layout tool we had

I'd be more than happy to go back to web pages that look like this instead of the garbage they are now

Hexen is so dang good

Hexen …

Id is one of the most influential companies of the modern age.

And I'm still playing Doom II, 30 years later. I mean it's heavily modded, barely recognizable, and running all manner of user-created maps, but that's why I'm playing it.

Gods. I miss those carefree days. Figuring out how to stuff custom sprites and textures into PWADs, the crackle of a modem connecting to a local BBS, and being fucking annoyed playing against mousers with a keyboard.

One of the many old Doom fan sites I remember searching during my teens 💜😈

Quake II website in 1997 www.webdesignmuseum.org/gallery/quak...

On the archive page the font I most associate with Diablo is present. How fun

Hexen was revolutionary because now you could jump..!

Played every one of them with my kids.

Needs more <blink> and <marquee>. And definitely should have some hardcore midis playing.

My partners and I started an ISP back in 1994. It’s still going today. We would turn our Doom server on at 7pmet. We only let 6 people play. We had a long list of folks who whined or were otherwise not worthy that were banned lol.

I actually remember that page.

What??? No Ads????? I miss the old internet.

Probably took 20 minutes to load all those pictures too

Now that's gaming

Gimme dat shareware

Peak internet.

Miss that especially the ones with mods which thankfully the doom + doom 2 game pack lets you play mods the star wars one, the half life one, the sonic one, and the simpsons one i loved so much even the deltarune one if i remember i wish they had it in the pack though for console to download :3

I also made my first website in 1996. I feel so connected to Doom.

All fantastic games, too (not counting Hexen if played without a walkthrough)

Straight to the point, just "hey we make games and here they are"

This just hit me in the memories real hard.

Terrible. Sack half the company! - Microsoft

Dial up That awful electronic sound that sounded like one machine eating another Waiting for the pages to ‘ paint’ Sigh …

Every website had to have a textured background back then.

Heretoc and Hexen were incredible. A real spine-tingler. Made me hear footsteps.

When websites were built by one guy with a text editor.
