This is Gus. His brother Walter is trying to teach him how to catch a treat. Sadly it may be a lost cause. Still 13/10 for both (IG: waltandgusthebernese)

My weimies could catch a treat dropped from space. My Staffy couldn't catch at all. So I eventually would just drop it from 3 feet into his giant maw.

Aww, some dogs have poor near vision, but others simply don't seem to get the concept of catching right away. It just has to occur to him to try and Gus will hopefully pick it up quickly.

My dog learned that trick pretty quick because when I threw the tree if he missed it, I went for it to get it before he could off the floor. It wasn’t long before he started catching it before I even had the chance to get it. It worked with my daughter’s dog too.

Some people just don’t have time for these mundane tasks. Gus is one of those people. He is clearly carrying out complex mathematical equations behind those eyes. The beautiful, super smart, kind maniac below always used to try to catch with her front paws. It never worked in 16 years. Miss her.

He has an eye that doesn’t seem to work. I would say Gus isn’t the one to blame. Throwing treats at a dog with sight issues and expecting a different outcome is the hooman’s problem!

She’s rewarding him for doing the wrong behavior like you have to keep trying with the treat in your hand for them to follow it. It’s not rocket science. Gus 11/10 Dog Mom 0/10
