Perhaps people simply shouldn't use Meta products? I left a year ago after they declared that it was open season on transfolk, and they've only gotten worse since. Similarly, I can't conceive of why people still use Twitter.

Twitter’s dead. I had FB for 20 yrs. I am trans & wonder if that is a factor in my deletion. I also had just shared what Ice did to Renee Good soon after it happened. I am autistic & have no real world social skills. I was fb friends with some old college classmates, & admined some fan groups.

I was also fb friends with several animation, film, & comic book historians, in many groups about my geeky interests, progressive political leanings, some trans and autistic communities. I only joined because it was required in college in the early 2000s. I was so use to it.

oooh, A-B testing? The science of manipulation CAN be used for good as well as for patriarchal f%ckitall capitalism, (for whoever needs to hear that)

everything is always a bit of both but the valence doesn't look great. self-interest vs public good doesn't shift until more people develop a keener taste for compassion. Gold isn't God but the bigotry virus is everywhere, paying people off, and even "moral" folks resist resisting.

I tried Threads. For me, Threads was as bad as Twitter. And it did not take that long to get there. I gave it up in a hurry.
