Wait, They are going to sell video cards to gamers? You mean they are going to only use that so they are giving the tech to AMD for their cards too? If people avoid those cards you mean they will still target that feature?

I don't think uncanny is the issue. I think the issue is A) that it makes "artistic" choices in how characters are presented (the "yassified face"), and B) that it also doesn't actually work (see below thread)

Thread: I want to go over these two shots again, indulge me in a bit of pixel peeping. I think this is an illustrative example because it sets the question of faces aside; from a purely technical lighting fidelity standpoint, DLSS 5 makes this scene worse.

You're just asking for people to screenshot this article and show it back to you in 2 years when this very predictably didn't happen and you're peddling some yet unknown tech nonsense.

“This thing sucks and everyone hates it and neither consumers seem willing to buy it nor are devs excited to used it but could somehow everyone end up using it anyways??” It’s funny how the last part is unsupported by any shred of evidence or anecdotal testimony

Nothing quite like AI-generated pixels that make gamers feel like they need an eye exam. "It looks wrong but trust us, you'll get used to it" is a bold product pitch. The uncanny valley now extends to frame rates, apparently.

If yassification instagram filters are going to be the default I'm glad there are literally thousands of games from the last 40~ years that I've been meaning to play that won't have this slop.
