as much as i’d rather build something new, we have to takeover and gut the democratic party all that infrastructure belongs to the people, not the loser ass DCCC consultant class that has reduced it to nothing since the clinton era

It’s not an either/or situation. You build in tandem and everyone has their roles. If your time is better spent on electoralism, great. If someone else wants to build a commune, teach political theory and vote green, great. Neither of you knows what will work. It only makes sense to cover all bases.

I don't know that this is any more feasible than the worse outcomes or that it won't both lead to just doing More Incrementalism or letting deadender cultists continue their delusions, which will lead to them just supporting whatever makes them feel good, solving nothing rather be wrong, but

R or D, everybody in DC is 100% above the law. They are completely untouchable and they know it, hence all the insider trading. And they know they can't prosecute trump without undermining their own immunity. They will burn down the whole world before they give that up.

Personally, I would like to see the Democratic Party offer a big enough tent to moderates and leftists so that the Republican Party goes the way of the Whigs and the Democratic Party then splits into moderate and progressive halves to form two new parties. Move the whole Overton window… (+)

That’s already happening as the GOP implodes via its failed fascist coup. The most important step is to get STATES to enact anti corruption laws, RCV, and public funded campaigns. We can’t outspend them, we’ve got to strip big money from politics.

RCV is ranked choice voting, right? We had that here but the court struck it down for the governorship due to the wording in our constitution. Now we need a state constitutional amendment to get it back, which is a far cry. To many red districts here for that I’m afraid.

Yes, they fear out because they know it breaks the two party system. Public funded campaigns are the most impactful here, as they eliminate big money campaigning entirely. Of course, it would also help to prevent political ads by third parties. We strive forward, one step at a time.

our system is set up to favor the major parties we have to push out ken martin and all the democrats who want it to be the party that will throw trans people under the bus and defend israel’s genocide and continue to fuck over working people

I want Ken Martin to invite dem party higher-up he trusts, Chuck Schumer to invite every pol he trusts, Matt Yglesias to invite every pundit he trusts, along with David Brooks and every writer he trusts, to a big party on a big yacht and send it on a LOOONG round the world cruise (icebergs optional)

If you don't have any felony convictions and you have a credit card you can go buy the gear to start a revolution your own self. What's stopping you? We need to build more than we need to destroy. If you're not building you're probably not helping.

The fear in the US of not praising capitalism is deep. A culture committed to an infantile understanding and worship in both economics and religion is bound to collapse in stupidity. Need to find a way to educate and enlighten people on issues without 40 page white papers a la Clinton 2016.

I agree that there’s lots of opportunity for improvement and I have ideas, but I don’t wanna start from a place of gutting… can we adopt the approach of Mamdani instead of negativity… I am in the Minnesota Twin Cities and even here we could be doing so much more

We've been trying to do that for decades. We do need something new. The Democratic Party is irredeemable run by capitalist corporate pigs. There hasn't been a party representing the working class in Minnesota since Hubert Humphrey absorbed them into the Democratic Party to castrate them.

wren is correct here. we don't need the democrats, they're a fundraising corporation with a ballot line we can borrow occasionally, we need all hands in creating the first real political party in the usa this century that we organize and set our own priorities, lines, and discipline. join us!

And for anyone that says we cant - the tea party had nothing of value to stand on and they became MAGA and hijacked the GOP. Imagine what people who are good intentioned and not fucking stupid can do in contrast? It already happened in the last 20 years, we can do it too. SKINSUIT TIME!

good intentions are an immense disadvantage though, in comparison. the tea party opposed the affordable care act. we demand universal healthcare. the tea party ultimately wanted to reinforce the fascist hierarchy the oligarchs sit at the top of. it was quite an easy sell in comparison to our goals

They've had over a century to enact rules that prohibited any such action. To get on the rules committee for 2028, you have to be an elector now, and be nominated and voted in this year. Then you can vote on rules for 2030 election practices.

Dems lost their nerve & convictions on Nov 7, 1984. After Reagan’s sweep, party operatives decided they’d been wrong about voter values. They turned Republican-Lite and have clung to faux-‘realism’ ever since, jettisoning progressive goals and failing to advocate for much.
