I like to tell myself this is how I’ll manage my broken sleep. But my reality is different: I don’t get up. I don’t meditate. I lay in bed asking sleep to return. It is frustrating. I get up feeling spent. Because I don’t have the luxury to wait for the return of the second sleep. I have to work.

i find i usually get back to sleep faster if i get up and do something, like toss in laundry and make tea tonight i have just laid here and i am still awake (well because i am trying to ingest every poll i can find)

I’m up at about 4am and I think that is the issue: my alarm goes off at 6. I’m too aware of the pending start to the day. The Chinese say that hour is related to liver function. The doctors say it’s related to menopause and hormones. Either way, it is my struggle. Not every day but half the week.
