Musk : it's full self driving People : the car killed someone Musk : did I say full self driving i meant the driver has to have his hands on the wheel all the time and be ready to intervene <3 months pass> Musk : it's full self driving

One of the retired in-laws in the family spends an inordinate amount of time staring at an iPad listening to what is clearly AI-generated stories read by an AI-generated voices. The stories always meander more than a 19th century author paid by the word and never go anywhere that isn't a cliche.

After all of these years of Elon being accused of doing no substantive work to developing the Roadster 2, I see that we were completely correct. That isn't a car, it's a car-shaped practical effect. No way there's a full sized battery in that thing.

....and there it is. Elon's big chance to dunk on the critics and this is the best he's got. Guess he's busy making the roadster "Sentient" like he promised on twitter.

Something I think should be pointed out is the only reason Twitter has an anti-doxxing policy was because a neo-nazi comic strip artist got doxxed and people were making fun of how much of a weirdo he was, as well as proving he was also the author of an earlier, more obvious, neo-nazi comic.

X has made a comeback with some communities, namely AI and tech, but it is not Twitter of old. On X, users have been spreading the name of a woman they think is Cornell's Jane Doe. One particular post doxed a woman's address and phone numbers and was viewed 1.4 million times.

Steve Bannon issues warning to voters if they vote for Democrats in the midterms: “I think you’ll see Bobby Kennedy impeached, I’ll think you see Pete Hegseth impeached. I think you’ll see subpoenas flying every day. They will look to destroy Trump, and we’ll be bogged down for two years.”

"All of those people saying Theranos couldn't possibly get those results from a single drop of blood are just skeptics"

I'm with the visionary. He might not make it to his goal, but he's setting a new direction. The skeptics contribute next to nothing.

...isn't that the same Uber self-driving group that killed a pedestrian due to lackluster safety protocols and proceeded to fold up the entire program as an unsuccessful waste of money?

Techbros unironically turning into Micheal Scott calling anything they hate a hate crime. Seriously though, by this logic saying you can't stand tailgatingers means you're racist against tailgating drivers.

We need someone to aim a thermal camera at him and see if we see some overheating servos keeping his ass upright.

I’d seen several posts like this trying to explain the strange boxy bustle that sometimes appears under Trump’s jacket, and I was skeptical (largely because I didn’t think he would be coordinated enough to use it or circumspect enough to keep quiet about it) but then I saw this.

The idea of LLMs being used to write books is pretty consistent with the techbro misunderstanding of the world where they believe that completion metrics are the goal. Literature would be better if there were 100x the books. Kids will be smarter if they finish homework in 5% of the time.

Nice AI-image-generating tool, but it will never be as great an artist as Onfim, a child who lived in the Novgorod Republic in the mid-1200s and who scribbled these drawings and schoolwork writings on birch bark at the age of 6 or 7.

Other day I saw someone using ChatGPT to write their posts for a Steam forums argument, which is an incredible doubling-down of loser behavior.

Silicon Valley deregulation mindset gets you to the point where a space tourist feels confident in telling the world we shouldn't have seat belts on aircraft and that pressure suits are just onerous regulations when you could have everyone pile into a Pressure Closet™ instead.
