It should not be controversial to teach teenagers that: - Migration has positives and negatives for both the receiving country and source country - Greta Thunberg is an iconic political figure - Amnesty International is a leading campaigner against modern slavery But here we are!🤷‍♀️

“Prime ministerial patronage should be curtailed; minimum expectations for attendance and participation introduced; transparency over financial affairs should be increased; and outside employment more tightly regulated where it creates conflicts of interest.” Sounds rational…

Trump on El-Sayed: "We can't him in the United States-- we can't have him in the United States Senate. I look so forward to Michigan. I think it's gonna be wild. Because he's a total phony. He's a little phony. He's a jihadist. He's a vicious, violent jihadist."

Well, he’s right in the sense there’d be economic growth - 0.05% according to UK govt’s impact assessment. Not much Same assessment also said the cost-benefit analysis, accounting for pollution, health impacts of noise etc would be negative by tens of billions of ££ www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I think that Ms. Abdi-Wali seems to have worked hard, that the UK has demonstrated its capacity for integration, that her story is examplary for how migrants can work to improve British society. THIS is the dream. Thanks to Mr. Goodwin for highlighting this positive migration story.

TIL about the Evil May Day riot May 1 1517 Preacher “Dr Bell" made an inflammatory xenophobic speech about foreigners taking English jobs & food on Easter Tuesday at the instigation of broker John Lincoln. 2 wks on: anti-Migrant riot Under-sheriff of London Thomas Moore was sent to calm the rioters

Sir Ian McKellen orates 'The Stranger's Case' from 'Sir Thomas More' by Shakespeare about the Evil May Day xenophobic riot of 1517 in London. This passage was written 400 years ago, but times never change. Humanity refuses to change its unwarranted bias against 'others'.

Actress Susan Sarandon being arrested earlier today for protesting Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations. One is speaking out against genocide, one is committing it. One was arrested, one was not.

Wouldn’t it be great if politicians such as Badenoch had Special Advisers who pointed out this stuff to them, instead of them making fools of themselves with falsehoods?

🧵 As front-page headlines go, this has to be one of the most misleading I've seen in a long time It's an out-and-out lie But notice the trick they use to get away with it...👀 *They're* not lying - they're just quoting someone else who is👍🏻 In this case, the leader of the opposition🙄 1/33

When I lived in the UK none of my concerns e.g. affordable housing, climate action, increases in welfare spending, scrapping tuition fees, an ethical foreign policy, were ever framed as legitimate concerns. lnstead I was routinely told to fuck off by most political parties for having such concerns.

The latter has recently put out its 2025/26 accounts (the combined authority itself is overdue), providing a timely object lesson in financial chaos, including unpaid bills, undocumented debts from business partners and major accounting errors. In short, how not to do devolution. 🧵2/3

14/14 This is why a slogan like "put the Navy in the Channel" is just silly and dangerous. It's political messaging, not maritime planning. It begins with the assumption that the difficult part is finding the boats. From a seafarer's perspective, the difficult part begins after you've found one.

Yeah, embrace it…without the extreme weather events, wildfires, water shortages, refugees fleeing climate catastrophe in their own countries… just the sunny weather, eh Alistair?

I know it's not news Kemi Badenoch is not across the detail, but this is an absolute shocker. She says the UK's net zero plans are 'perversely increasing carbon emissions'. In 2019 when net zero targets were adopted emissions were 45% below 1990 levels. Last year they were 54% below 1990 levels.

Today is good reminder that the UK Prime Minister is appointed by the King based on a parliamentary majority, but is not elected by Parliament. This is different to most continental European systems, where the appointed PM needs to face a vote in Parliament first.

Robert Saunders@robertsaunders.bsky.social

It's becoming an established attack line that Burnham "has no mandate" and "hasn't set out what he'll do". He's not becoming president. He leads the same party that governed yesterday, elected on the same manifesto. His authority comes from Parliament & he'll have to pass his measures through it.

Is this the first instance of “Antiwoke”?

Alan Greene@alangreene.bsky.social

There's a proposal to build a McDonald's in Stirchely and it's amazing how it's being framed on local Facebook groups as a left-right issue. Being against McDs is woke apparently. And also, you probably hate flags. It's a microcosm of how antiwoke can advance the interests of billionaires.

All those “illegals” taking our jobs and benefits, hanging around on street corners and now stealing the water from true British patriots!🤯
