Nothing will satisfy anti-immigration campaigners. So we should give them nothing.

In the Telegraph, Alison Pearson says the Home Secretary has "as good as declared war on the British people" & calls for fury. The accusation of declaring war is about working with UNHCR on opening a refugee sponsorship scheme www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/06...

Who the hell is making these decisions? IO just launched arguably the most successful game of the year so far… and XBox respond by bailing out of the studio’s next project. On Microsoft’s current form though, this is probably *good* news for IO.

Jason Schreier@jasonschreier.bsky.social

NEW: Xbox confirms to Bloomberg News that it has pulled out of IO Interactive's 'Project Fantasy' video game. “We expect to invest about the same in content as we did last year. What's changing is where we're investing and the kinds of projects we're backing.” www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

We can only speculate - but Microsoft bought a ton of successful game studios and most have been ruined or closed (with more closures reportedly imminent). Whatever direction XBox is imposing on its family of games studios; it is clearly turning them to trash on an industrial scale.

If I had to speculate wildly… IO - buoyed by the success of First Light - pushed back on Microsoft’s requirements (which definitely included AI). Microsoft threatened to walk away if IO didn’t submit. To which IO said “okay then - bye” and picked up the phone to Sony.

Just off the top of my head… What if a young person needs mental health support *because* they lost their job or are otherwise unable to work? What if the best route back to work for a young person would involve receiving mental health support *first*? What then Andy? You fucking ghoul.

There is no 10-year-plan to improve the country. “10 years” is how long they think Burnham can maintain the broken status quo; how long he can get away with pointless tinkering, falsely presented as change; how long they can do the bare minimum and lie about it. They are, of course, wrong.

Saul Staniforth@saulstaniforth.bsky.social

Andy Burnham confirming he won't take our key infrastructure back into public ownership.

Avoided the AC debate so far, but it seems to boil down to this: EUROPE: It’s too hot! USA: Just get AC, lol EUROPE: We have it, but not everyone has that option (logistics, buildings, landlords, cost, etc…) & the real problem is climate change. USA: Why do you weirdos hate AC?! Your so dumb.

The best analogy to the conversion therapy Bill would be a Bill that banned smacking children "unless the adult believed that the little blighter deserved it."

Andrew James Carter reposted

Under today’s massively PR’d draft bill banning LGBT conversion therapy, Alan Turing never underwent conversion therapy. Because it was done by the State for his own wellbeing. 🥸🫪 Same now for trans people. Pink-washing garbage.

The Conversion Practices Bill is transparently designed to serve 3 purposes: 1) A set of guidelines for how to legally abuse LGBTQ+ people 2) A mechanism for criminalising gender affirming care 3) A shameless dogwhistle to Labour’s fellow bigots that still lets them claim otherwise to the public

I expect this will be loudly opposed by every serious LGBTQ+ organisation. However, the UK press only need one astroterf group supporting it to present opinion as “divided” and frame those opposing the bill as unreasonable perfectionists. Consent will be manufactured, just as it always is.

Maybe it was naive of me, but I honesty didn’t expect Labour to be *this* shameless. I still thought they would make an *attempt* to mask their hatred. I guess they’ve accepted that the queer vote is lost for good and only care about support from bigots and superficial allies now.

My expectations were low, but they didn’t even *try* to pretend this was a serious attempt at a ban. You’re not allowed to abuse LGBTQ+ people… unless you say you’re doing it for medical reasons (including mental health).

But wait - it gets worse - because *anyone* is allowed to claim they’re abusing queer people for their mental health. You don’t need to be a regulated NHS doctor or an accredited psychiatrist. Just slap on a name tag that says “Therapist” and you’re good to go 👍

Burnham will do things* better than Starmer. *pandering to fascists; destroying the Labour Party; etc…

Meet James Purnell. Andy Burnham's chief of staff. In earlier incarnation, he supported the Iraq invasion; was chairman of Labour Friends of Israel; said that Winter Fuel Allowance and free bus passes should not be sacred; supported PFI, lie-detector tests for benefit claimants. What next?

A lot of people left X for Bluesky because of the tone of the discourse there (I wasn't one of them, as it happens). But do be aware that angry lefties aren't above personal insults. If your answer is "oh but you said something I disagree with online", it might be worth rethinking a few things.

Folks - stop engaging with this prick. He’s an obvious troll wilfully contradicting himself in countless different threads. Nothing he says is in good faith. He just wants attention and engagement so the algorithm spreads his bullshit further - block him and move on.

No he didn’t, you deluded fool. The Tories were loathed and people voted Labour as only option to get them out. Then you idiots decided to govern as Red Tories (and, in many ways, somehow became even worse). And you act mystified now everyone loathes you too.

Darren Jones MP@darrenpjones.bsky.social

Keir brought our party back from the brink after 14 years in opposition. He did so because the public trusted us on the economy and on national security, and because they voted for our manifesto. We mustn’t forget the lessons of our successive defeats and why and how we won only two years ago.

I’m being too generous with “deluded fool”, tbh. He knows this is an outright lie. He knows they got fewer votes in 2024 than they did in 2019. He knows exactly why they’re hated. But he wants to keep doing hateful things. So his only option is to lie.

Andrew James Carter reposted

keir starmer is a good lesson in intersectionality because everyone has at least one reason to dislike him but most people have multiple overlapping reasons so they really hate him, and then old white guys are just out there like wow not sure where all this hostility is coming from

The UK has had 7 different Prime Ministers in 10years: 1) Useless, lying right-wing bigot 2) Useless, lying right-wing bigot 3) Useless, lying right-wing bigot 4) Useless, lying right-wing bigot 5) Useless, lying right-wing bigot 6) Useless, lying right-wing bigot 7) Useless, lying right-wing bigot

Labour’s problem will be diminishing returns. Starmerism lasted 24 months. Burnham brand Starmerism might last 18. So they need another 3 vacuous, unprincipled beige men just to reach the next election. They should have loads, but they somehow had to look outside Parliament even to find this one.

The whole political spectrum pretending Starmer passed earth-shattering reforms on renters/workers rights. He caved to the wealthy and even the watered-down dregs had to be forced over the line by the unions & threat of a backbench rebellion. He had the majority for generational reform. He failed.

Goading Burnham to move (even further) to the right. It’s a painfully obvious ploy, but Labour take the bait every damn time. (Because many of them are looking for any excuse to do that anyway.)

Paul Brand@paulbrand.bsky.social

NEW: Deputy Leader of Reform UK, Richard Tice, accuses Andy Burnham of being a “hard socialist” and calls for an immediate general election. This is the line we will hear repeatedly from Reform UK from now on.

Who would have thought the people who helped me betray every Labour voter would turn out to be traitors?!

Politics UK@politicsuk.com

🚨 NEW: A Labour source says Keir Starmer feels "betrayed" "He gave everything to Labour, including sacrificing much of his children's teenage years to help make the party electable. He feels deeply betrayed, especially by those he believed were loyal to him"

The far-right blamed immigrants for all the country’s problems and Labour nodded along. The country still has problems so - by Labour’s own racist reasoning - it cannot have “solved” immigration.

Peter Whitewood@pwhitewood.bsky.social

Net migration has almost halved in a year.

And, of course, when certain voters say they have “concerns about immigration” what they actually mean is “concerns I might encounter a brown person”. Labour would need a genocide to address that - but they seem fine with those.

The racists won’t be happy until we’re an openly white supremacist state. Everyone else just wants the country fixed and - while every mainstream politician is allowed to blame their failures on immigrants - many voters will wrongly express “lower my cost of living” as “lower immigration”.

Analytically, this is why it's important to consistently talk about the political media class, to treat them as a single ecosystem of shared & mutually reinforcing interests, rather than as members of different parties & discreet professions that also overlap or interact
