Let’s all try something different here on bsky: pretend the heart button doesn’t exist, and instead let’s *talk* with each other. I’d much rather have a conversation about how something is important to you or me, than get a million hearts from faceless people.

#onmyturntable Marconi Union - Signals (2022). Super cool double crystal clear discs, with a bunch of great atmospheric post-rock tracks. My first Marconi album, and based on this, I'll definitely be looking for more. #vinylsky

#onmyturntable The Dead Milkmen - Big Lizard In My Backyard (2014 reissue). Classic debut album, with the awesome "Bitchin' Camaro". Spent hours listening to this in my youth, super stoked to get hold of this cool reissue. Still even remember most of the lyrics. ❤️❤️ #vinylsky

#onmyturntable Daft Punk - Random Access Memories (2013). "Doin' It Right" got itself stuck in my head, so I figured why not throw it on the deck. Always a good listen. I always forget that the drums on "Contact" are 🔥 #vinylsky

He's only gone and written 2,500 more words about how game devs feel about generative AI. Latest piece quotes around two dozen different people with an indie background. When asked how they feel about gen AI, not one, but two devs responded, "Fuck that shit." www.gamesradar.com/games/it-cre...

gamesradar.com"It creates lesser games": Indie game studios are supposed to love generative AI, so why do the 25 devs I spoke to avoid it?"So it may be slightly faster, and a lot worse, but it's also more expensive? Neat"

I spent the last few months talking to over 30 game developers about generative AI. It began as a sort of interview survey but became a pretty comprehensive collection of arguments against the technology altogether. www.gamesradar.com/games/why-so...

Without saying your age, what's your favorite movie that came out when you were 18? A few strong contenders, but this remains one of my favorites to this day.

Without saying your age, what's your favorite movie that came out when you were 18? Sorry for being a cultural cliché

the *appearance* of LLM code LOOKING like good code is the corrupt subchannel expressing itself I think; the subchanel manages to *advertise* its appearance in the form of the text, but when you (unconsciously) parse the channel you just get garbage, which feels like icepicks in your eyes

#onmyturntable Bruford - Gradually Going Tornado (1980). The third and final studio album of Bill Bruford's first solo project. Some pretty high-energy fusion. Not my usual groove, but happy to check out what one of my favorite drummers got up to. #vinylsky

you don't have to use an extension to do this on Firefox • open settings > search • scroll down to search shortcuts and click add • fill out according to the image below (text in alt text) • click add engine • scroll back up and select "DuckDuckGo No Ai" under "default search engine"

Since Google revealed its plans for an AI search overhaul, visits to our "No AI" search page have tripled…and they’re still rising! Want to make it your default on Chrome or Firefox? Grab our No-AI extensions and banish AI-assisted answers, chat, and AI images. (1/3)

Remember: we were never given credit for being right about crypto, we were never given credit for being right about NFTs, we were never given credit for being right about the metaverse and we will never be given credit for being right about AI. Fuck 'em up anyway.

First look at the Cypher game system today. The books are not the best-arranged things I've ever looked through, but with some persistence, you can emerge with an apparently-functional character. We'll see how it plays at the next session.

#onmyturntable Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery (1973). It's a gloomy day here in the PNW, seems ideal to get my prog on. It took me a long time to get the pun from "Karn Evil 9". #vinylsky
