DOD and Honeywell have successfully flown an aircraft for more than four hours from Seattle to Alaska over the Pacific without GPS, using quantum magnetic navigation. Next: They plan to demonstrate the technology on a U.S. military C-17 Globemaster III later this year. www.war.gov/News/News-St...

FUN FACT: ALTERNATIVE ENERGY “France has just launched the world’s very first solar powered desalination ship that sails to water-scarce communities and turns ocean water into fresh drinking water using only sunlight." ELECT LEGISLATORS WHO EXPLORE AND IMPLEMENT ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOLUTIONS :-)}

A good overview of the awful disaster in Nepal that pieces together videos in to a clearer narrative.

FRANCE 24 English@en.france24.com

🇳🇵 The devastating flooding in #Nepal and #Tibet has claimed more than 400 lives and left hundreds missing, with ongoing conditions complicating rescue efforts. Watch for a closer look at how the disaster unfolded ⤵️

As I said a while earlier... Vote BinFace! A UK by-election in which the decent candidate has a bin for a head. The other one is astonishingly corrupt.

Here it is. My manifesto for the 2026 Clacton By-Election. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Join me, clean up Clacton and let's make 13th August Bin Day! #VoteBinface #VoteyMcVoteface #YesWeTinCan

That's a sad end. Doub't these A346's will work again (because Mahan Air won't be allowed to buy them 😉)

European Cargo has entered administration after its A340-600 freighter operation stopped flying in May. www.airwaysmag.com/new-post/eur...

A good reminder of what those busy skies really mean @flightradar24.com

Looking at a blue sky with planes flying by. Every 737 burns 3,000 litres (25 bathtubs) of kerosene per hour. That's as much fossil fuel as three gas-heated homes consume in a year. But with twice the climate damage, by the indirect warming effects of burning it in the stratosphere.

The Indonesian authorities have located the wreckage of the ATR42 in a steep ravine on Mount Bulusaraung which is high ground in the area of Makassar airport where the plane was headed. No survivors of the 11 reported on board.

This picture was taken in the heart of a big city yet its restful and beautiful Its a reminder that good can be found in almost anything. Always look for the bright side to help keep your spirits up😊 Happy Christmas Bluesky.

A Boeing 737 converted in to a luxury villa being overflown by a paraglider. Maybe the renters of the plane villa want an extra large fly swatter or perhaps these days are pleased for the attention to their exclusive selfie pad? 😜

A remarkable statistic from @gregorynorminton.bsky.social for those residing in the UK and struggling under excessive energy prices I'd think this question of pegging energy price irrelevantly to the gas price should be asked of your MPs. The high energy price pain, it would seem, isn't necessary.

Blustery day, isn't it? Here's the National Grid: Live generation data. Wind and solar are generating 74.2% of our electricity. Gas is generating 13.1%. And yet our household electricity prices are pegged to... the volatile price of gas. Which is the basis on which the right attacks... renewables.

Last night VH-OGB A321-XLR #2 for QF also did the great leap from XFW-BKK but like the forgotten step child it didn't have 8000+ followers on @flightradar24.com even FR24's photo was the former VH-OGB, a 767! I watched him arrive on a crystal clear night still a marvel for so small to fly so far!

80 years ago on 6th August 1945 at 09:15 a.m a B-29 Superfortress "Enola Gay" dropped an atomic bomb named "Little Boy" on the city of Hiroshima. The bomb exploded 800ft above the target with the force of 20,000 tonnes of TNT. "Now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds": Robert Oppenheimer.

Have to recommend Steve's Cockpit Casual channel on YouTube here also. Very relaxing well edited story-telling. Wonderful for Avgeeks but for general interest too with National geographic style cultural and regional content included. Truly enjoyable viewing.

If you have even a passing interest in aviation, and you’re not watching Steve’s new series, you’re really missing out. Steve’s stuff is always broadcast level but this new series takes it to 11. Definitely worth a watch.

Happy birthday, America. Your gift? A new police state.

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@reichlinmelnick.bsky.social

With this vote, Congress makes ICE the highest-funded federal law enforcement agency in history, with more money per year at its disposal over the next four years than the budgets of the FBI, DEA, ATF, US Marshals, and Bureau of Prisons combined.

Visiting Victorville's vast aviation storage vault! Over 100 Ex FedEx DC-10/MD11 trijets alone, even a handful of 727s too plus multiple other aircraft types of varied histories and schemes. 18 Qantas 717s and two of their now tail-less A380s also of note. An awesome site/sight in the desert! 😍

If you want a better understanding of how USA politics got itself in such a mess then watch this lecture. Eliot is the first I have come across with an explanation of how we became so disfunctional. There is a specific example explaining the origin of one of the many untruths pedalled by Trump.

I've just come back from the Cambridge Disinformation Summit where I gave the opening keynote, titled "Demanufacturing Consent - How Disordered Discourse is Destroying Democracy", featuring everything from Fake Hooves to Jackson Hinkle being the worst. www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-FV...

The moon and Venus in the pre dawn sky this morning. By the time this pre dawn sky arrives over the Americas this should form a smiley face in the sky. Please share anyone who manages to capture that😊 #astronomy
