Yes, executive dysfunction IS a symptom of depression, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s a correlation between my inability to get my meds refilled and my difficulty summarizing these 87 pages of medical records!

“How did you get into tabletop role-playing games?” My hometown was not yet most exciting, and my best friend and I were literally looking for something to “get into.” Our tiny local bookstore had a couple of gaming books; the clerk suggested I order the Red Box. The rest is 37 years of history.

“How did get into tabletop role-playing games?” In a high school study hall as a freshman a junior looked at me reading and asked, “so you game?” “Huh?” “Wait you are reading a TSR novel and you don’t game???”

32 years after its original release, I was able to see In the Mouth of Madness in a theater. This is my all-time favorite horror film, and when I saw it on the list of Regal’s 31 Screams on Screen I knew I had to be there. A big thanks to @s0n0fz3us.bsky.social for coming with.

Another colleague has taken their life, leaving a suicide note on Facebook. We worked together on overnight emergency. We recently marked the 8 year anniversary of another colleague’s passing, in circumstances so similar that it’s like Déjà vu. Another former ER friend left us two years ago.

Stay around. Even if there doesn’t seem to any point. Even if everything seems lost. If you can’t stay for Hope, or love, or friendship, stay for spite. Stay because your demons don’t deserve a win. You do. Whether you believe it or not.

988 is the suicide helpline. You don’t even have to remember a long number. Call, even if you’re just doing so to check it off a list. And you can reach out to me as well. Even if we have never met. I want you to stay.

All of these women were beautiful, caring souls who were far more loved and appreciated than their poisoned minds allowed them to see. Everything they accomplished, everyone they touched, all the good they did, reduced to online obituaries and social media remembrances.

At a Walmart in Florida, and in the toy section they had the most incredibly realistic plush loaf of French bread. So realistic that I just had to pick it up and squeeze it. It was an actual loaf of French bread that someone abandoned among the plushies.

Proposal: if you insist on having a phone conversation in a public area (like the lobby in this service center), you should be forced to use speakerphone and allow everyone else to participate.

Without saying your age, what’s your favorite movie that came out when you were 18?

So exciting to eat dinner at a place where the TVs are airing Newsmax. If I want to watch Trumpaganda I can just crawl into a warm bath with a sharp razor and a plugged in toaster.

My hot take is that regarding Congress like it's analogous to some normal workplace with colleagues who are all ultimately on the same team is exactly the thing everybody is disgusted by, because politics and policy are real to them, because they are not smug cloistered fucking nitwits.

Nine years ago today we adopted Ludo, one of the greatest dogs of all time. Last year in June we adopted Athena. Today, meet Juno!

There are essentially endless reasons to hate Trump that are more important than the American 250 disaster. But I was born during the American Bicentennial celebration. It would have been really cool to be able to experience something amazing for 250. But like everything, he turned it to shit.

Hot take: one of our society’s greatest culinary crimes is the decision that caramel may no longer exist unaccompanied by salt.

I’ve gotten pretty bad about reading, and I’m really slow to finish books these days. That said, I just finished Black River Orchard by @chuckwendig.bsky.social, the second of his books that I have read (the first was Wanderers), and I will be picking up more of his books soon. Great read.

Literally, yes. The whole reason Predator works is that it takes a team of crack badass commandos from an 80s action movie, has them act out an 80s action movie for the 30 minutes, and then the Predator shows up and all of a sudden it's a slasher movie, but the commandos DON'T KNOW THAT.

I haven’t seen Predator but from everything I’ve read my understanding is that the soldiers are structurally teenage girls in a slasher pic

Gaming friends: Does anyone have a good program for making campaign maps? My daughter is planning a campaign and is not good at mapping. We are an anti-AI family, so none of that.

Currently playing through Metroid: Dread for the third time.

What was the last video game single-player campaign that you have replayed? Criteria: - You must have beaten it once - Replaying it means you have every intention of beating it again - Arcade-mode runs don't count

I normally hate the way YouTube just randomly sticks ads in the middle of whatever I’m watching. But sometimes you get some gyms. Watching a video about an old VHS tape about the rapture, and I get “When Paul says ‘Bro, the level just started and we are already getting overrun’”

First time finishing Nemesis with a survivor! Also, I achieved my objective of being the only survivor - @peaugh.bsky.social also made it off the ship, but a larva burst from his body in his escape pod. And poor Jeff succumbed to his wounds climbing into the hibernation chamber.

I feel like people are not getting that this is the BriTANicK movie. It was written and directed by Nick and Brian! It is exactly what you would expect a BriTANicK film to be! "What's BriTANicK" asks some of you and I'm sorry but a question like that will get you an ass beating

i know it’s replacing small screen with big screen but one of the things I enjoy about going to see movies is it forces me to turn off my phone for 2-3 hours and be okay with it

Seven minutes into today’s Behind the Bastards and they have said the name “Greg” so many times that my brain has ceased to recognize it as a real name or word of any kind.
