AA is updating a couple of its cobrand CCs, and the new "occasional traveler" one includes some interesting benefits: -Free Walmart+ subscription. I don't think I've seen other airline CCs offer that, though I'm not deeply into that space so maybe? #PaxEx $AAL #Loyalty

Most interesting IMO is the "Rides and Rails" branding for bonus miles. It includes double miles on: ferries, commuter railways, subways, taxis/limousines/car services, rideshare services, passenger railways, bridge and road tolls, parking lots/garages, bus lines, gas stations, and EV charging.

This is a HUGE range of transit-related services that are all bundled into that bonus category. Many of them are not covered by bonus earning on other CCs, and certainly not as a full group like that.

Both of these are pretty clean IMO. The stuff is all collected into the corner so the property owner can properly deal with it.

The AirBnB people whining about the incredibly postmature rules changes are hilarious. Hey, here's an idea, if you don't want to pay someone to clean up after guests don't run a fucking lodging business!

JetBlue reporting a $257M net loss for Q3, including a $144M operating loss. Revenue up to $2.8bn, (+$490M YoY), while OpEx increased by $534M. Only $329M of that was fuel. Salaries and landing fees were another $100M higher. "Other" was up $57M. $JBLU

Fuel was $3.91/gal in Q3. JetBlue is expecting $4.64/gal in Q4. And it is already seeing demand soften as the prices rise. Can it keep enough pax in seats as it continues to increase prices to recover the increased fuel costs??

The release is optimistic about the future, with expectations of "at least $1 EPS and positive free cash flow in 2028." Also believes the necessary liquidity exists to get there, without a major restructuring (something pretty much everyone is talking about for them these days).

A couple revenue highlights that should carry over into the future: -55% co-brand card acquisition increase around FLL as market share grows -1.1Bn points redeemed on UA metal -Paisly's strongest month ever in August, plus UA is now online for rental cars with more segments coming soon.

If you're wondering whether you should pay attention to municipal politics, just think about tonight, when a city council member, empowered by sheer luck of the alphabetical order, is attempting a small coup to appoint her donors to the city's decision-making bodies.

I hit 2x body weight - not my lifetime best - on my 49th birthday a couple months ago, and I weigh a lot more than 158#. Hitting 315# is good. People should celebrate personal growth. But that's way different from pretending this is an elite level performance.

Guys whose whole thing is obsessing relentlessly over the righteousness of patriarchy and aLpHa masculinity are flexing and high-fiving over ... a one-rep deadlift max of 315lbs/143kgs.

Anywho, here's 431# from April 2025. Yeah, my friends cheered me on. That was great. I got 436 off the ground after that, but not a full lift.

Also, here are a couple guys hitting 800+ at a strongman comp/ challenge thing back in 2013 Hafþór Björnsson (a/k/a the Mountain) holds a bunch of strengh records and basically did a fundraiser that you could make a donation and challenge him to a weight. Brett drove him to a draw.

Some excellent points by my colleague in the NH House. Also, ~50% of the bills we saw over the past biennium were voted up or down on the Consent Calendar, meaning they were unanimous or had one dissenting vote in committee. We agree on a lot. And also disagree on a lot. #nhpolitics

We’ve watched Washington’s shutdown brinkmanship, the bills written for cable news instead of passage, and the reflex to kill an idea because of who proposed it. But there’s another kind of government working in Concord. My latest: granitestategovernance.substack.com/p/what-conco... #nhpolitics

Based on the destinations it looks like they're hoping Avelo (DTX) and Breeze (SAT/MSY) expand, then Allegiant and Bermudair show up. #avgeek

New Haven (HVN) in conversations with 2 potential new airlines in 2027. Potential new routes for all airlines include DTX, SAT, MSY, VPS, PGD, SFB, and BDA.

Notable in this deal: It is likely to be the paid version of the Starlink service, adopted by Copa, Wizz Air, Frontier, and others. The one Musk initially insisted would never operate on the SpaceX LEO network.

This is also the first easyJet release I can recall that actively calls out use of AI in generating the image associated with the news. Which is bizarre because it is basically just a darkened aircraft interior, glowing with some TRON-esque highlights. I guess WiFi is "future" or something. 🤦

I left NH two weeks ago in the middle of peak Autumn foliage season. I came back to frost on the windshield this morning. At least it was pretty out on the fields.

Welcome on board JL008 with nonstop 787-9 service from Narita to Boston. I'm seated in PremY today, in the infinite legroom bulkhead row. My low-ball bid for a biz upgrade came up short, but I was able to swap out of the middle seat I originally had. #paxex

Slept a few hours. Trying to reset my body clock on the flight. Awoke to discover the second meal service completed with 2.5 hours left to fly. Bizarre. FA offered to bring me breakfast, but I declined. Got the limited availability UDON de SKY cup o noodles instead.

Dinner served shortly after departure. I chose the beef and, well, I guess there was some ground beef somewhere in the sauce. Decent flavor, but not very filling.

Watched a couple movies, including finally seeing Top Gun: Maverick for the first time. It was fine, I guess. IFE selections overall are OK, but the TV series options are poorly thought out. Three seasons of The Bear, but only three rows of each season. 🤦

Almost forgot: I caused a minor incident with my checked bags. I had to check one, owing to buying too many souvenirs. So I figured I'd just check both. Printed both tags. Then decided to carry one on to avoid my snacks getting crushed. Was paged to the gate because a bag was missing. 🫣

Taxiing for departure now. Wifi is a paid service on board today's flight so decent chance y'all don't hear from me for 12ish hours. Play nicely with each other and all that.

We're at least a half hour delayed departing. I think the FA mentioned high departure volume as the issue but not certain. Maybe we make it up en route, maybe I miss my bus home. Will find out in 12ish hours.

I did find another inflight map bug while waiting for departure: the time at destination is an hour off. Best explanation I can come up with is that the Thales GeoFusion map has a very old time zone data file so the DST offset is wrong. But that's just a guess.

There are some impressive bits of #AirportArchitecture in the NRT T2 satellite pier (Nikken Space Design, 2015). The HVAC design, on the other hand, is a debacle. I feel like I'm back in the extreme heat test room at the PAC factory from Thursday.

And the gate hold areas are way too small for the operation here. People overflowing into the halls and generally chaotic, especially with two flights boarding at the same time at adjacent gates. Saw at least one pax try to board the wrong flight. 😱

PremY pax get Sakura lounge access, which is a nice touch. The main lounge in T2 was very crowded and they only allow food in a small part of it on a different floor than the main area. It was crowded, but I was able to get a seat. Alas, they still have order to seat QR codes that are outdated.

Who has two thumbs, wanted yakitori for lunch, knew there's more than one "Osaka" station and that the Shinkansen doesn't run from the one near my hotel, and still somehow managed to almost screw that up and miss his train? This guy!

No Mt. Fuji sighting on today's train ride. But I'm still enjoying watching the countryside roll by. What I'm not enjoying is the mini tray in the window, which is digging into my arm.

My first N'Ex ride. I've always taken the cheaper and not much slower train in the past. This time the Express made some sense. It makes even more sense now that I screwed around at Shinagawa and missed the one I meant to be on and am on a train 25 minutes later so the tiny bit faster helps.

Spent a hot second trying to figure out how to rebook my train, before deciding I'd probably make it. And I ended up having a few minutes to spare. I did not, however, have time to acquire train snacks.

I legit cannot tell if United thinks this is funny or is trolling. Show me a tub filled with stroopwafels or the F snack basket or anything else that's not a reminder of COVID. 🤦 Bizarrely to me, the comments seem mostly positive.

As an aside, rather than spending your whole life trying to disinfect every surface of the plane, maybe just stop licking the seatbelt. Much healthier. 🤷
