The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

erininthemorning.comDon’t Vote For The Worst Anti-Trans DemocratsThe Democratic Party should, and likely will, win big in the midterms. We must not send the worst anti-trans voices to join them.

ok here is a short compilation of some test footage today, this was run in "IDLE SCAN" mode which uses ZERO operator input, this was fully autonomous the system chooses the TOI and does the aiming solely based on locally received ADS-B data

after focusing a ton on optimizing object-agnostic optical tracking for my Wescam at Home™ project, i finally relented and built a pipeline for non optical tracking using locally captured ADS-B data

got carried away and added an "operator situational awareness" module that tells the operator when an interesting thing is about to happen almost immediately paid off by telling me about this lunar transit opportunity

currently it looks for emergency/mission specific squawk codes (firefighting, SAR), low and slow and close passes, lunar transits, military and LE aircraft and alerts on a custom list of registrations a distraction from the work i was doing on integrating ads-b and optical tracking, but a fun one

CHP aircraft (ADS-B disabled) apparently caused an RA with inbound Fedex 86 (N851FD, #ABAB90) this evening reported the RA over the radio but indicated no action was required so was likely a "monitor vertical speed" aural warning which matches the geometry (both a/c level, CHP 500ft below)

CHP flying this late without ADS-B is clever (perhaps unintentionally) because TIS-B only works when there are client aircraft nearby... if there's no traffic (such as late at night), no rebroadcasts are triggered, no TIS-B tracks

on a night like tonight tho, you can still hear them... they've transitioned over downtown a couple times tonight and the turboprop sound signature is pretty distinct even if it's pretty quiet overall audio cue enough to know to scan the sky, and then ofc night lights make it easy to find the a/c

i am working on improving the existing tracking behavior and also starting to work on a feedback mechanism that uses the existing object recognition pipeline run at very slow (and computationally cheap) rate to auto correct the ads-b based tracking

We all know what “protect girls’ sports” means in the 2026 election cycle. DCCC coordinating on an ad using that language is unacceptable, and it gives other campaigns permission to follow. This is an inappropriate use of party resources. (1/3) www.erininthemorning.com/p/dccc-relea...

Really, Iowans ride bikes All the time. So often, in fact, that Groups of riders band together and ride their Bikes across the entire state. It's a boost for the whole Region And It's so beloved, we even gave this annual festival a name.

Joe Mitchell: "Thank God you're building the ballroom. Thank God you're getting rid of those awful bike lanes. We don't ride bicycles in Iowa."

not sure on a timeline, but I also want to build a mobile/vehicle borne self-contained testbed platform to do more testing in the field i also gotta revisit a hardware variant based off of a dedicated mover platform with multiple sensors (thermal, I2, LRF) to create a true EO/IR system

despite having zero visual feedback to make small corrections, and operating at a FOV <4 degrees where very tiny errors matter, it works incredibly well keeping a TOI in the "area" reticle (not the much smaller center point reticle) without any chasing or overshoot

i also made a bunch of improvements to the OSD and UI... next up is some work with visual filters for dehaze, motion enhancement/detection, and maybe a couple others to improve the systems overall performance in challenging conditions

using the already existing radar mini-map in the UI, a user can simply click on a an aircraft symbol, the camera automatically slews at a high rate of speed and tracks the a/c smoothly because it's solely based on ads-b, obstructions or poor conditions don't have an impact on the track quality
