Swift Effect is now in public preview! it is an architecture-agnostic effect system that makes side effects (such as I/O, networking, randomness, concurrency) controllable, composable, and testable without forcing structural changes to your application code. github.com/Alex-Ozun/sw... #swiftlang

I can't be the only one who thinks that HomeView (with no space between the words) sounds like a SwiftUI view and not a hardware product. #swiftlang #apple #swiftui

It's always great when you have no idea what the talk title means, but @alexozun.com's talks are usually pretty mind blowing so I am excited for this one!! 🤯

Gave my first and only conference talk this year at #swiftCon in Berlin. Honestly, didn't expect such a huge turnout and Q&A engagement for a fairly obscure and code-heavy topic. I feel incredibly grateful and energised! Happy to see European #swiftlang community going as strong as ever💪

I know a couple of similar short domains for the meat proxy already exist that replicate nohello.net, but I didn't quite like how any of them where written, and I think the original article is already short and sweet. I also like that the author gets direct attribution, and not just a footnote.

As some of you may have noticed, I've joined the editorial team of the legendary iOS Dev Weekly newsletter. It's a huge responsibility and an opportunity to contribute to the Apple developer community, one I don't take for granted.

I initially planned this as a short post on socials, but it quickly evolved into a blog. Here’s my recommended reading list to get you from Zero to Hero in Swift Concurrency. It’s based on my own learning journey, with adjustments that work better for 2026. swiftology.io/articles/swi... #swiftlang

In tests, the same mechanism powers *mock-less* testing of behaviours: observable effects can be intercepted, suspended, and resumed with just-in-time test data, without invasive scaffolding or test-only abstractions in application code, commonly required by DI libs and arch frameworks. #swiftlang

The library also enables deterministic testing of unstructured Swift Concurrency. If you're interested, please give the project description a read and share your feedback and ideas. #swiftlang

With just two lightweight abstractions, Effects and Effect Handlers, it enables natural composition of behaviours while keeping application code linear, procedural, and easy to reason about. #swiftlang

I had a blast presenting at #iOSKonf25 this week! I heard great things about this conference and I now can say that the praise was well-deserved! It was pretty scary to be on the lineup with so many accomplished engineers and speakers, but the vibe was really good and everyone was easy to be around.

The secret to introducing people to scary-sounding concepts like Free Monads in #swiftlang is in never mentioning these two words until the very end of the presentation.

I think I managed to successfully trick the audience into thinking we were simply describing effects with enums, until finally revealing that we’d actually learned something that *supposedly* requires a PhD in Computer Science to understand (spoiler: it really doesn’t!).

Good software design is about adding the necessary amount of indirection without compromising performance too much.
Good performance optimization is about removing unnecessary indirection without compromising software design too much.

Now, that it's official, I'm sharing my 2025 #swiftlang conference schedule, so far: 1. Swift Heroes (April 8-9): Controlling Side Effects with Swift. 2. iOSKonf (May 13-15): Make invalid state impossible in your apps. 3. Swift Craft (May 20-21): Swift Abstractions Demystified.

Heading into 2025 with 3 brand-new talks is kinda crazy, but I'm feeling good about this decision. I'm excited to share these talks with the community later this year! If you'll be at any of these conferences, drop me a message.

Feedback like this is what keeps me going (even at my snail's pace 😅)

The most impactful Swift content I’ve ever consumed is authored by @alexozun.com Please visit his site, swiftology.io and read/watch everything. It has completely changed the way I approach writing Swift. You too will be better off after learning from Alex!

My 2025 #swiftlang conference schedule is shaping up 🗓️ This year, I'm bringing not one, not two, but *three* brand new talks to the community! So far, these are confirmed: 1. Controlling side effects with Swift 2. Make invalid states impossible in your app 3. Swift abstractions demystified

I'm committed to maintaining a high quality bar for my public talks, which means I have dozens of evening hours in Keynote ahead. Once the conferences make their official announcements, I'll make another post with all places and dates.

Caffeinated and ready to learn how to build fast and efficient apps from #Apple engineers at the new Dev Center in Battersea Power Plant.

I've been putting off reading #brandonsanderson books for a few years, but finally got to them. Now that I've finished the Mistborn trilogy and started the Stormlight Archive, he's quickly becoming my favourite modern fantasy author - on par with Sapkowski (while having a more pleasant personality).

It's great to see #Apple bringing these in-person sessions to local dev centers around the world. I look forward to hearing about "Building faster and more efficient apps" in two weeks.
