Ok, Bluesky adding profile links is super cool. Oh and I see the little icon for my mastodon account. I think is a very pro-social move and I very much approve.

I think it's such a shame that, as far as I can tell, criticism of Swift's concurrency system has largely disappeared. I think there are still so many areas that could have been improved.

I have put my other Swift evolution proposal concepts on hold. Language changes require enormous effort on my part and I'm afraid that I just don't think I can justify the time like I once could. It was great fun and hope to return to them one day!

SE-0540 is now finally merged! This was a fun one to work on and not as hard as I feared going in. Not quite sure if it will make it into Swift 6.5, and may be a while before it's practical to adopt anyways. But cleaning up all those settings in package files will be very satisfying.

I made an App to detect AI Slop Music. It runs locally on your device and uses Shazam and a custom trained ML model to detect AI generated music. Its completely free. I would appreciate it if you could spread the word. #indiedev #aislop #music #ml apps.apple.com/de/app/daft-...

Wavy Road is now available for pre-order! 🚗 I’ve been working on this game for a while, and I’m excited to finally share it with you. Pre-order here: apps.apple.com/app/id680494... A repost would mean a lot and help more people discover the game. Thanks for your support! ❤️

Apple friends, I know your employer continually lets you down and disrespects your work. Reminder that ignoring bugs that don't impact your direct team is an easy and safe option. Your coworkers deserve some kind of (legal) resistance.

It's possible the people in control of Bluesky/Mastodon never find a way to work together. So, it's wonderful to see client developers step in.

It's a bizarre kind of whiplash though to think "dang Ukraine taking out Russian bot farms might actually have a meaningful impact on saving democracy worldwide" and "ah yes, the powerful in the Apple community are going back" in the same *hour*

Once Apple returned to X, and the company executed the (carefully planned, of course) laundering of bribery as just Cook, a return to X by other major personalities was inevitable. Still disappointing though.

Car camping friends: it is very expensive and logistically complex. But if you have been considering an induction cooktop for outdoor cooking, I highly recommend it. What a quality of life improvement.

I'm not an "accelerationist" by any means. But the ever-increasing negative consequences is quite a sight to behold. It's like watching in slow-motion.

This is a very good exploration of the complexity here

This is a really interesting point. I agree with @dame.is's take here, but I also don't think playing violent videogames is harmful, so how do I square that? Well, as always, the answer is nuanced: playing a game like Doom or Wolfenstein is not inherently psychologically harmful because in context

I really like the new iOS 27 text message suggestions. They give me a very clear idea of what the least-personal response would look like. Could still be a fine choice sometimes, but it's nice to have a reason to think twice.

Like many scientists, I’ve been mulling over the impact of LLMs on our fields. I’ve not yet seen it articulated, but I think there is a largely unspoken “invisible labor underclass” framework at play.

Me, in a patronizing tone: you are too afraid of running stuff on the main thread Also me: I should keep working on a years-long project to make it easier to avoid using MainActor in this one incredibly esoteric case

I haven't followed this Cornell stuff at all, but just looked it up quickly and I am now filled with rage and disgust which is saying something in 2026

I read it a long time ago, but I still think about The Innovator's Solution frequently. The realization that it is common to have a shallow and possibly plain incorrect understanding of why your product is successful is such an amazing insight.

I know there's so much more nuance and complexity to it than this. But when a bad thing happens, and I see people say "see, dependencies are bad" I cannot help myself from interpreting it as "we should not work together on shared solutions" and I dunno it just makes me very sad especially lately

Found this jacket. Got it as a speaker gift for a Twitter conference. There were quite a few attempts to "acquire" my handle, including one that caused quite a bit of drama. I suppose someone will eventually get it now that it's abandoned. But the jacket (I never wear) is mine forever.

I have three things to do today and one of them involves C++. I better not leave that to the end, run out of time, and unfortunately have to push it off until next week.

I get the objections to it, I really do. But I cannot tell you how many times I have explained why you cannot await a property assignment in Swift, and had to then go on to cover the alternatives and all their trade-offs. Not wonderful.
