I'm trying to open the system web browser from an installed PWA (think target="_blank" on an anchor tag). Apparently that is not possible: web.dev/learn/pwa/wi... 😞 The URL under which the PWA is available has changed, and I want to direct users to the new place. Anyone know of a workaround?
It's crazy how shady meetup.com has become. Clicking on virtually any element of a meetup's page (e.g. Attendees) opens a blocking modal asking you to sign up for Meetup+. There's no option to close or cancel. But hey, at least you get some random AI-generated image slop with it...

I wrote an essay about why I'm done using AI for coding, even if it costs me my job and career: brettcodes.com/im-done-usin... The basic gist is: AI made me a worse, apathetic programmer. I think it's bad for humanity, the planet, and the craft of software engineering. And I'm done using it.

The Bun rewrite as a subplot in Anthropic's campaign to end software engineering. Call me crazy, but I not want my vendors to be on a campaign to end software engineering. I believe that to be counter-productive. Does that make sense? raymyers.org/post/zig-cre...

I'll be at MicroConf Europe in Iceland this September, if anyone I know here wants to have a coffee and talk about bootstrapping, running a small software business, or anything else really. ☕
MicroConf Europe is almost sold out. Sept 21-23 in Reykjavik: 200+ bootstrapped SaaS founders, 30+ countries, and the hallway conversations you can't get anywhere else. At Harpa Concert Hall, right on the water. A handful of tickets left. 👇 microconf.com/europe

Just published a blog post about the new CSS Anchor Positioning API! ⚓ I’ve been learning about it over the past few weeks, and it’s friggin’ great, but it also took me a minute to really get the hang of it. My goal in this post is to share the most useful bits, so you can start using it today. 🔥
Even if you don't know or care about the Zig programming language, I'd still recommend you watch this interview with its creator, super inspiring. More than ever, I want to port STRICH to Zig. It looks like a great match for my domain. youtu.be/iqddnwKF8HQ?...

The silver lining here is that Safari alternatives on iOS are actively being worked on (status described as “research prototype”). I’m not sure I’ve seen any official confirmation of that up until now.
Safari 28.6% slower than Chromium on iOS. This is the tax every single user on iOS has to pay as a result of the #AppleBrowserBan www.theregister.com/software/202...

Hearbreaking. It’s all so f***ing depressing.
At the end of the term I asked my college creative wriing students to submit anonymous thoughts on AI. No real surprises: Mood ranges from resignation to despair, capitulation from embittered erosion of standards to total, feelings of betrayal from deep to furious. 1/

In Cixin Liu's epic sci-fi book "3 Body Problem" aliens send futuristic computers ("sophons") to Earth to halt the advancement of human civilization. Sophons scramble physics to a point were deterministic science is no longer possible, and practitioners kill themselves out of despair. AI=Sophons...?
Currently being targeted by a phishing campaign, and sent out an email to some customers who might be affected. Wanted to verify the outgoing DKIM/SPF setup first, and came across this handy tool: www.learndmarc.com You send an email to it and it does a step-by-step verification - neat!
