My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

Look forward to Techbros burrying themselves in the landscape

Tesla unveiled a redesigned Roadster equipped with thrusters that enable it to fly short distances, nearly nine years after it first showed a next-generation version of its electric sports car, and said it would start production in 2028. Chris Kirkham has more. reut.rs/4zCTFyN

Agreed, tribute to the team abd particularly @anandmenon.bsky.social on the amazing work they did, sometimes in the face of great pressure, and Prof Menon leading through deep personal courage.

Would like to add a personal note to this. The ESRC showed remarkable vision in funding this but @anandmenon.bsky.social brought the energy it needed to be the success it is. It was a model for the kind of academic I had always wanted to be but which really had no place in the existing structures

Does every feel just lied to, on a daily basis? The whole world we thought we could build in the late 1990s up in fumes? The very people who sold it to us busy setting it on fire? Places like South Africa, which demonstrated multicultural anti racism at work, now places where nationalism is back...

Jeremy Clarkson is ground zero for the general slide of a particular type of middle aged typology that slowly drfits into the easy simplism that defines their world for them. I love cars & am a bit of a petrol head so growing up TG was part of my life. The whole school was a bit public school boy ..

This Jeremy Clarkson video is the epitome of climate change denial. Harking back to half a century ago when the UK had a couple of hot summers, and “just hoping” that the weather will go back to normal again next year. FFS. 🤦‍♂️ #ClimateEmergency www.bbc.com/news/article...

Oafishness that you thought no one looks seriously & it was a big joke. You forgave it because the underlying principle was they were allegedly smart people playing idiots. But as they got away with more, got more famous for their oafishness, the more Clarkson became the persona..

You could be unkind & say there ways & underlying darkness that you accepted. However, Clarkson ks now the patron saint of a class of man who has the woled fal at their feet at other people's expense & is now upset age & control over that world is no longer his birthright

Some Liberals(both UK/US versions) can't help themselves with doing far right cos play. @paperghost.bsky.social

💈 Today is the first reading of my Presentation Bill seeking mandatory registration for all hairdressers and barbershops in England. The Bill has genuine cross-party support and was developed on the back of an excellent Parliamentary event, co-hosted by local barber Mike Taylor...

This is a tax guy. His advice could be the difference between someone having their assets seized & maybe going to jail, or not. Now imagine having to worry about racist shit in every interaction you have with any person in authority. Every doctor & nurse, every cop, every lawyer & judge, every boss

Media Diversified@writersofcolour.bsky.social

A HMRC official was sacked because he was caught on camera saying he gives wrong information to black and brown people when they call for advice in a bid to sabotage them. He was a member of the far right group Patriotic Alternative. How many more?

For all of you who want to know what actual racism looks like as opposed to Black Shorts lapping on weekends, this is what it looks like. This is why minorities are totally paranoid about interacting with institutions

Let’s be clear. Labour’s line on immigration is that immigrants are a bad thing, to be tolerated in the minimum number necessary for the NHS, the economy and so forth, but basically and essentially bad. There’s no other logical reason possible for Mahmood’s approach, endorsed by Burnham.

I want the Prime Minister to look into a TV camera and say the RNLI are heroes, that we do not change policy by street violence in this country, and that he expects any criminal action to face the full force of the law. That's it. That's all he has to do.

“Protesters“ - The UK would do well to learn what the Sturmabteilung was and did. Because that‘s what‘s happening. But the idea is still fascists are the people we beat 80 years ago. Of course not an ideology anyone ever supported in the Britain. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

In the midst of an awful lot of ever-so-sophisticated equivocating and oh-so-thoughtful-chin-stroking and too-clever-by-half-over-thinking, I just want to say, simply and unequivocally and for the record: The Resistance Libs Were Right.

And the poor guy... you utter shameless bustards will now cry crocodile tears while blaming others....

On the Arday issue - people are noticing who is busy expressing such glee when silent in other matters.

The question every journalist should now ask Restore, "Do you believe that King Charles is a legitmate Monarch as he is descended from immigrant stock?". Every. Single. Interview.

𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 Following the death of Ayatollah Khamenei, Shi‘i communities worldwide are mourning in ways that reflect deeply rooted political and spiritual ties. Radhika Gupta @leidensocial.bsky.social explores this through an #anthropology of geopolitics, in this blog 👇

If you're making Mahmood your chancellor, you have no interest in making Universities the cente piece of any policy. If you support her as current Home Sec you have no interest in centring anything on Universities

They didn't just think we were citizens of nowhere, they made making us citizens of nowhere a priority

"As far as the government is concerned, they’ve washed their hands of us. Would they do that to a white person?" For a @prospectmagazine.co.uk feature on Britain's citizenship-stripping boom, I spoke to families of people who have had citizenship revoked www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/politics/uk/...

It's always a little ironic I suppose that the entire functioning of western elite institutionalism is dedicated to making the brightest and best get through the system to run the place. And the resulting outcome has some of the dumbest ever politics.

Hi @disabilitystor1.bsky.social I am going to have to pull you up on this thread. As someone who teaches at a B School, develops MBA programmes, has taken one. I think you're really putting way too much emphasis here on the degree and not the social conditions of late stage capitalism 1/3

This post is unavailable.

Lets be clear I agree thst there are major structural issues here with companies that seem to create a tragic dead ends & generally make services that add value fall apart. But they do that without MBAs running them. It tends the pressure of PE & shareholders pressure that does this. 2/3

MBAs are sociology degrees at their core. They introduce critical engagement of management theory, human relations etc, as well as marketing & finance. Also empowe adult learners, & career change esp for women or minorities. At admissionI selected almost 20% from disadvantaged backgrounds.

I am hot and tired, so allow me to be blunt. If you support remigration, if you support removing some people's rights etc etc, you are a bigot. Nature of my work is finding that 5% level we can all agree on and build from there, but don't be shocked by being called a bigot when you side with bigots.
