Something that feels important to name regarding the Cornell case is that rape is a form of political violence. Most of my clients have experienced sexual assault and each time a major news story like this makes the rounds, they are immediately thrown back into the worst moments of their lives

And as economic conditions continue to deteriorate, violence against women will increase. Men who feel powerless attempt to take power back by directing violence towards women, children, and vulnerable populations. Our cultural rhetoric is already becoming increasingly violent and misogynistic.

We need to build collective movements that respond to these structural forces, that will not abide misogyny and sexual violence, that offer space for healing, that don't handwave violence against women as interpersonal drama but understand and respond to it as deeply intertwined with class struggle

The trauma of rape does not end after one event. It loops over and over. And that's the intention. It's a hate crime. It's a terror campaign. It's meant to maintain structures of power that benefit men, and to repeatedly degrade and devalue women. It is woven into and protected by our institutions.

This will not stop until we start to understand that rape is not one specific interpersonal act, it is part of the fabric of domination and dehumanization that underpins every school, every organization, every social structure, every political body, every country, all over the world.

In a sick, violent way, they have more faith in the possibility of a new world than a lot of people on the other side. They are willing to reimagine all of it. Many of us cannot imagine getting rid of payday loans and they’re like eff it, let’s see if the Pope’s still got the juice.

This is a sick civilization. An open call to genocide. It is clear that Gaza is how we got here- tolerating genocide in one space begets another. Generations of our ancestors have worked to build something different, toward the preservation of earthly life. I hope I live to see this re-orientation.

sometimes I feel like such a flop I wonder how I will ever make it all happen... and yet in flopping I affirm the gift of life... I flop because I am not yet done....

a key reason they see an opening for such a blatant speech crackdown is that they already did one to Palestinian and anti-genocide activists and it got enthusiastic bipartisan approval

great news! you're not actually seeing karl rove, john yoo, and david frum criticize the administration's lawlessness more stridently than dem leadership. you, reader, were infected with rabies by a brown bat 36 hours ago and this is all just the virus working its way through your nervous system

W…hat do they want help with…exactly? I mean, they have all the parts, I assume. What is it we are supposed to do for them?

The left is completely silent on the subject of men getting laid - which, generally speaking, they are v.interested in doing and will continue to be interested in regardless of whether progressives want to talk about it. So the stage has been left entirely clear for the far-right.

had a telehealth session with a new client this morning and everything was going well until jonesy figured out how to open a cabinet door in the kitchen and then otis saw the cabinet door swinging open, ran over and started barking at it like our lives were all in immediate danger

fortunately they always seem to pop off during sessions with clients who really like animals and are entertained by their antics so that's good for rapport building i guess thanks as always to my helpful sons

A U.S. surgeon trying to have a “peer to peer” consultation with a doctor at a health insurance company who is hiding his identity as her patient gets denied coverage. And it gets worse from there. You have to see it to believe it. (1/2)
