The 5-year cancer survival rate is up to 70% SIDS deaths have decreased by over 50% 89% decline in tornado deaths All thanks to federal investment in science and OUR tax dollars at work!

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Still thinking about Hal after his arc about accepting he won’t be a Green Lantern hugging Tomar-Re as he passes away not paying attention his ring is returning to him.

Will@somerandomwill.bsky.social

Such a bittersweet finale. I get why GL didn't reboot itself compared to, say, other books, and unlike other books that didn't. This makes a case for why it shouldn't need to...It's the characters and their journey up until now.

Replying to @lukelebrun.ca

The demographic of Jan 6 and the "trucker convoy" was predominantly business owners. Painting them as rural hillbillies is just self- soothing denial from people in the same class

Y’all, I hate to rain on the dead bot parade, but the Yandex data center destruction doesn’t seem to have significantly impacted social media bots. I made temporal graphs of X posts about AfD around the time of the attack and there’s no sign of a sudden dip or residual impact on that conversation.

I’m not envious of the position bluesky’s administration is in

Win98 SPOOKY support@win98tech.bsky.social

Bsky is so funny dude the administration genuinely fucking hates its users who genuinely fucking hate the administration but neither is willing to leave fucking boomer marriage website i cannot wait for social media to completely crash

That’s not really what it was about

Lady Emily ☄️@ladyemily.nebula.tv

The Problem With Apu was a pretty balanced and nuanced (and honestly tame) look at how cultural representation in television can leave an impact on people’s lives and what to do about it, so of course it’s still characterized by angry people online as a whiny temper tantrum from the PC police

I really feel like I’m wasting my breath, but this is not unusual for Scholastic. Its Book Fair programs give away more than a million free books a year. it’s designed to increase children's access to books.

Anthony Strand@durwoodclapper.bsky.social

Scholastic sent me a whole box of paperback copies of Sorcerer’s Stone that I sure didn't order. When I asked why, my rep told me they're sending complimentary giveaway copies to random schools that do Book Fair.

Sometimes people claim that fiction affects reality but they only ever mean that in a negative way. What if Ser Duncan the Tall inspired me to defend the innocent? What if Sora convinced me to fight the darkness? What if Leon Kennedy taught me how to spin kick zombies?

Skrmetti happened because of existing Equal Protection doctrine, not what you’re saying

Bill Kristol@billkristolbulwark.bsky.social

“Originalism is an incoherent doctrine. It allows you to prove anything. Thus what it amounts to is a ritual invocation of the Founders, gesturing at this or that piece of text, before delivering whatever conclusion was approved on Fox News the night before.” www.liberalcurrents.com/we-have-no-s...

I don’t know if you’re joking or just nuts Considering where I am: nuts

Genderbended Draco Malfoy is a psyop by Harry Potter terf brigade to draw interest for the new show

Make stuff. For the love of all that there is, please just keep making stuff! Doesn't matter if it's bad, good etc. Just *keep* making stuff.

It’s not the same

Colony Laser@gryps2.bsky.social

What on earth is this "Malfoid" nonsense, spreading both the virulent HP fandom and also incel terminology at the same time? If you want a female Draco Malfoy type, there already is one that is much better than the original.

>woman who savagely tortured an innocent girl as she begged for mercy and death at one point >is possibly a vegetable trapped in her own body wishing for death God does have a sense of humor.

The New York Times@nytimes.com

The execution team went through at least seven needles trying to find a vein suitable for delivering doses of a lethal drug to Tennessee inmate Christa Pike, her lawyers said. Medical experts explain the possibilities of how she survived.

That is what you have a problem with?

Sam Lowe@greenlantern44.bsky.social

Yeah another reason I don’t get why so many of you love Lanterns so much- it keeps throwing Harry Potter references in I just saw a clip for the last episode referencing fucking Azkaban Is your so-called “lore accurate” Hal worth the Rowling ass-kissing

Not only that, but people like Jessie Gender and Aranock'll make six hour long video essays and openly admit to not doing any research for them, such as that time they accused George Lucas of re-editing the Original Trilogy to cheat Marcia out of residuals.

Can we admit Breadtube is an economic scam at this point

If a solar manufacturer discovers a cheaper production process because it wants to beat its competitors, expands production to earn profits, attracts investment because investors expect returns, etc. That’s capitalism

Ian Danskin@innuendostudios.bsky.social

we live in a world where "humanity is rotten to the core" is a more tolerable idea than "capitalism is kinda busted" but what I love about "capitalism is kinda busted" is realizing every good thing that happens is in spite of capitalism because humans are that committed to doing good things

Not to be defensive of Doug, but it's entirely likely that he just Google image searched a castle and didn't bother to check if it was AI-generated or anything.

KillThad@killthad.bsky.social

I was watching the new Nostalgia Critic video and... that's clearly AI generated, right?

I’m disgusted. I’m so sorry that yet another person in the YouTube gaming space has made the community less safe and less welcoming for women.

MinnMax@minnmax.com

Jacob Geller is no longer a part of MinnMax. He won't be on content moving forward and we won't be publicly airing this week's episode of The MinnMax Show. We're in shock and deeply hurt. Thank you for your patience during this sensitive time.

Let's see what Schaffrillas is up to... Oh, that's a Cartoon Youtuber refusing to give a new movie a chance because (Checks note) the main character is too upbeat.

It takes way less risks than people think

AxeLegend, Fio Abs Truther@axelegend.bsky.social

It's definitely true for me. I had never been more excited to be a Star Wars fan after watching The Last Jedi, but the absolute vitriol the fans threw at it and the backtracking Disney's crew did after that just made me... Uncaring. Even if it's good again, that's not enough.
