Reminder that there has never been a time when cozy, fluffy, noncontroversial trans stories outnumbered the edgy, grim, gritty ones. It factually did not happen. Stop claiming it did. I actually have data on this from when I edited trans year's bests, and so do other people.

Watching the D*List disability debate and guess which 3 parties have declined to send a candidate or not shown up. You'll never guess!!!

Lookit. Deep down every Irish person wants to spin some yank a yarn that gets cited as fact in some factual text. We told an Irish American girl that when the Muppets was released in Ireland, Kermit the Frog was called Dermot the Frog because Cromwell’s son was a Kermit.

IT'S LIVE. The official crowdfund for CHAMELEON MOON, BOOK 3: CALL THE STORM is up and running NOW! If you like your dystopian SFF with an entirely queer cast of (super)heroes with a 'punk as in fuck you, we're ALL surviving' vibe, you might get a real kick. www.backerkit.com/c/projects/r...

Afternoon out with a friend at the small but excellent Carmen Rupe exhibition, followed by liquorice gelato and logging a few bees. Wellington, you're still pretty great.

I hope you're all having a great Saturday night doing normal people things. Personally I'm writing a filk to Universal Soldier about the Forest Shuffle boardgame. It's called Universal Tree Sapling.

Extremely wholesome start to the school holidays: "daisy" (actually snowdrop) chains tied to the bridge by the playground and streaming out in the wind.

Hey look the Hannah has fixed their death stairs I dramatically fell from! I will likely still find a dramatic way to injure myself, but this is a good move.

TIL that Phil Ochs wrote for a satirical student magazine edited by RL Stine. 🎶Sarge I'm only 19, I've got a ruptured speen, my skin is inexplicably turning into fish scales...

I'm freezing because I'm a goblin who never brings their coat but I also have hot night market noodles and tomorrow booked off work and there are kids practicing their singing from the council buildings balcony and it's pretty nice actually

Reading a novel by an NZ author with a character called Luxton who is described as looking like a sprouting potato until he lost his hair, and now resembles a boiled egg, and I endorse this act of publishing pettiness.

Mutual aid alert. Siobhán Kirchstein, whom I've known for many years, is a trans woman who works as a janitor at KU and has been targeted for using a bathroom. Her case has been profiled in many venues, including by M. Gessen at the NYT. I've talked to her at length recently.

I know most [culturally] Christian raised atheists (like me) seem to have felt betrayed when they found out Narnia was a Christian allegory but my response was more "wait books can be about more than one thing? books are even cooler than I thought!"

Anyway Magician's Nephew was always my favourite, and looking at the images for this adaptation I am feeling optimistic.

Had a revelation about a new direction for a project I've worked hard on but didn't end up quite going how I'd hoped, and now I'm feeling a little nervous but mostly good about it again. Details shortly!

Goddamn te reo Māori course asking me to write about what each of my family members like with normal neurotypical examples like "watching TV" and "playing rugby" and here I am with a dictionary trying to look up each family member's special interest.
