Par of NDP Leader David Eby’s concession speech last night. “A number of my colleagues, some of the hardest working MLAs I know for their communities, were not elected tonight. It breaks my heart, and I accept full responsibility for that outcome.”

Mr. Eby announces resignation as NDP leader at party’s HQ after election results last night. “This is obviously something I do with a very heavy heart. But it is time for new leadership within our party.”

“I expect the highest standard of conduct from every member of our team, and I will hold myself to it first,” says premier-designate Lorne Doerkson at first media avail since election.

It's somber in here as results roll in. Christine Boyle came out with voice hoarse from door-knocking to thank everyone who volunteered on campaigns, received applause.

“If a local candidate — or party leader — is unwilling to engage in an easy interview on election night (such tough questions as “How does it feel?” and “Why do think your message resonated?”), how open will they be to harder questions once the real work begins?” surreynowleader.com/2026/10/22/o...

A staffer for the local BC Conservative candidate just told me the party isn’t allowing interviews with media on election night. I, in turn, expressed how ridiculous and stupid that is.

Because there's not enough going on: Vancouver Coastal Health warns that rabies has been confirmed in Downtown Vancouver. Anyone who may have come in contact w/ "abnormally behaving skunk" downtown, West End or in Stanley Park (map) Sept 22-Oct 17 should call VCH public health ASAP: 604-675-3900

BC Conservatives' election night advisory says there will be no media scrum w/ interim Leader Doerkson that night. "Should the Conservative Party of BC be in a position to form government, a media availability with the Leader will be arranged for Sunday." NDP Leader Eby has accused him of hiding.

NDP Leader David Eby says the number one question he’s getting on the campaign trail is, “Why are we having an election?” His response:

“Vancouver, grow up.” Video by Bob Mackin of Colleen Hardwick last night insulting the intelligence of anyone who voted for Ken Sim four years ago or Pete Fry now. I wonder if her base will ever change their opinions on whether this rhetoric has been an effective way of expanding her support.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, speaking now: Aware of four deceased, 39 in hospital, at least 19 in critical condition. Says those who have suffered severe burn injuries will require intensive and specialized care

Major-General Rutland: soldiers were doing high-intensity combat training w/ live munitions in advance of deployment to Latvia next spring. Throwing grenades on hand grenade range, conducting section attack: 10 soldiers attacking simulated enemy. Grass fire, spread rapidly because of strong winds.

Update! Grand Chief Stewart Phillip's endorsement of Green Leader Emily Lowan is for her candidacy in her riding; says NDP Leader David Eby best choice for premier.

Andrea Woo@andreawoo.bsky.social

Grand Chief Stewart Phillip endorses Greens' Lowan. His late wife, NDP MLA Joan Phillip, pushed back on Eby's plans to amend/suspend DRIPA Lowan says Greens would follow advice of FN leaders, implement DRIPA. Accused Conservatives–who would repeal DRIPA–of pushing misinfo, "blatant fearmongering.”

More from Grand Chief Stewart Phillip via text message: Lowan "represents the face of a new generation of leadership. Doerkson is a bitter and grumpy old man who clings to the historic racist notions of the past. He would seek to privatize everything under the sun if he was premier."
