Grateful that Bookishly Jewish took the time to read and review my novella in 2026. It was a thoughtful and fair review (also a rave :D)

We’re working on our 2027 Jewish Books list. If you have a book releasing in 2027, or know of one, please help us out and report in!

Is this a new tradition? Costco had a sale this week and so I picked up a bottle of dragon fruit juice. As I pour it for breakfast it feels like a fitting way to start the morning off by before I go off a-authoring at Frightreads Con. Happy Halloween, all!

I've had a pretty shit week. Someone scraped up my car and ran away. The book order I made in September for a show this weekend has somehow had the delivery date pushed to mid-November. A few other things. If you've been holding onto a review it'd be nice to receive something positive this week.

When the devil goes to D.C. on a vacation, he discovers humans are now better at torturing each than his minions. To upskill his workforce he raises a section of hell into the suburbs of the U.S. capital... and then a demon is framed for murder. A satire with a super soaker loaded with Manischewitz

Thinking about the graduating @viableparadise.bsky.social class of 2026 this morning. I felt a lot of things back in 2022 and some of them took a while to process. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed or excited or disappointed or insecure or numb. Give it time. Give yourself grace. And welcome to the 🪼

Okay, how did this happen! Oct 23-24 Frightreads (A Halloween SFF Horror Con) Nov 7 Kaldi's Social Club (A coffee shop author event for authors who wrote their published works while sipping their chais) Nov 13-15 Faerycon (A celebration of the fantastic, the whimsical and dark world of the Fae.

South Korea went from burying almost all its food waste to recycling almost all of it. In 1997, 95.4% went to landfill. Today about 95% is recycled. The Korean Zero Waste Movement Network campaigned for 4 decades and is now an Earthshot Prize finalist. buff.ly/AWqK39x #ShareGoodNewsToo

Looking forward to seeing everyone #Frightreads in two weeks and sharing a laugh more than a scare. Happy Halloween, all! (Who Framed Roger Rabbit written as an homage to Mel Brooks.)

I am probably too old for trick and treating, but I am neither too old to be treated nor sadly too old to be tricked. More to the point, I am not too old to celebrate imagination.

This is a very real dream for all of us who as children played with action figures and were part of that cultural moment!!! So darn cool! I rarely experience jealousy but may have to search my feelings on this one ;) Congrats!

Aaaaaaahhhh!!!!!! It’s so good!

I think that the reason that what's happening with FSF, Asimov's and others stings so much is that the owners failed to realize that they are also caretakers of a social trust. That the community has invested so much time, money and property that the magazines are more than a simple business.

To a degree, we usually think about this in terms of sports. Fans become so emotionally tied to their teams that it becomes part of their community and family. So, a failed stewardship becomes personal. So, a choice to screw over or short change the athletes (authors/illustrators) rings wrong.

We all believe that the magazines need to be profitable. We all want them to thrive. At the same time, the magazines are nothing without the contributions of creatives who are already so grossly underpaid for their works. So asking to take more from them when they're already sacrificing hurts.

Received an email today from one of my workshop students. They detailed some of the grieving they were going through and how they hoped writing would lead to catharsis. The note reminded me of the trust people put in teachers not just in guiding them along a lesson or a process, but in their lives.

We write for so many reasons: To speak To dream To rant To consider To advocate To heal To laugh To remember To love and sometimes to harm To plan To wrestle To breathe All of them can be the right reason to write. May you find the words you need.

Canada is refusing to issue ISBNs to books primarily generated with AI. This illustrates both the urgency of the problem of the growing flood of slop books, and also the toothlessness of addressing it on the honor system without there also being consequences for lying
