They are deeply broken and unhappy people, and no amount of vandalism and ensuing chaos will fill, or distract from, the gaping void at their center. You’re actually doing much better than they are.

@davidjroth.bsky.social, found a random pack of XL ‘84 Donruss cards wedged into my bookcase and thought you might want to have a look. I’m sorry but I like this era better. I assume they had brainstorming sessions to come up with the idea of just making them bigger.

It is totally normal for a 52-year-old American man to have a print sub to the Football League Paper. The cost was hard to reconcile given it took two weeks to get here, but it was almost worth keeping just to get mail addressed to Lord Andrew Elrick.

Talking about the new "microdrama" trend today in class and showing them Ep. 1 of the Reelshorts production "Carrying His Triplets, Becoming His Wifey." I like to think that this bit where she walks out of the break room just holding a loaf of french bread is a nod to Michael Clayton.

After 25 years in media, my moment has arrived. I don’t want to jinx it, but it seems like I may soon have the opportunity to instruct someone to “take it out of petty cash.”

I've sold a house, so I know realtors work hard to strip all the personality from it in service of squeezing an extra .5% out of buyers. But I sometimes wonder if most of these sports guys houses actually never look like a real person lives there.

I’ve consumed a lot of Scottish National Team media this international break and so much of it is absolutely delusional. Slovenia is just about their level. Probably should beat them at home but really bang average.

I feel like this is the kind of "cultural" product that could work its way into a Trump bit. Maybe he can workshop it in conjunction with the birds being killed by windmills? "The whales are eating people, we're seeing it, nobody can believe it. I said, the whales? They're eating people?"

If you go up to the box office and say "one adult for the movie where the whale eats a guy, please" they have to give it to you. There's no law that says you have to say Whalefall or whatever it's called.

This is like when my wife “catches me” watching an Armenia-Finland match during the international break.

A phenomenal moment in the Senate. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., claims he has evidence Jack Smith went to a HAWKS game in Atlanta. Smith denies it. Schmitt declares he has busted Jack Smith for perjury. Smith, vexed, says he went to HAWKEYES game in Maryland. WATCH IN FULL, UNINTERRUPTED

I'm under no illusions about how things are or what the trajectory is. But I'm also excited for the future because that is where I will hang out with the people I care about and do the things I like doing, or haven't done before. Weird but telling that this holds less appeal for much richer people.

My greatest weakness as a teacher is that in a class of 30 students I cannot help but fixate in the two or three who either look xanned out or as if I'm speaking Urdu.
