I was about to make a comment about the heaps of 'First Person Tidy-The-Space-By-Sorting' games that have flooded the market and how I want to play games for 'escapism'... But then I remembered that I play popular 'Poker-Card-Combo-Maths' game Balatro atleast 1 hour every day.

My wife, who has seen zero Star Wars films and thinks Vader is called 'Darth George Lucas', just asked me "What the hell is a Biddy Blas?"

I always thought that maybe when I'm like 55 I'd go back into the education industry and be a full-time teacher (again); to directly help the next generation before retiring. But with how rapid tech is moving with AI; what would education for kids even look like in 20 years time? ๐Ÿค”

Mold, my vector graphics library for Godot and Unity just hit full release! dkliao.itch.io/mold Designed allow you to create beautiful looking shapes right within the engine, no need for image editor or modeling tools. (This gif was created using only Mold) #gamedev #indiedev #godot #unity3d

Godot getting OOB Contact Shadows before Unity URP is incredible work. ๐Ÿ˜„

4.8 will be the strongest godot release in a while texture streaming, contact shadows, multi-bounce AO, lightmap specular, 3d trails, mesh buffers on gpu, visual shader groups, label text fitting, symbol renaming, more flexible editor layout and a lot of ui improvements what are you still missing?

if youโ€™re a games company that wants to survive it has been proven over and over again you need to do whatever it takes to stay away from being publicly traded. youโ€™ll be turned into wood chips the moment itโ€™s convenient.

My main criticism is that the astonishing cinematography, lighting & atmosphere of the first half doesn't carry right through to the end. Can't wait to rewatch when there is a home release! ๐Ÿคฉ

Support open source frameworks & tools! Especially ones maintained and improved by excellent people. :) (I've been a platinum monthly donor for 3+ years ๐Ÿ˜„)

Godot contributors and Godot Foundation people are really good people, yaโ€™ll. Thereโ€™s so much goodwill and best effort action, many of their efforts unpaid, under-appreciated, and invisible. Please continue to send them kindness. And donate a bit of what you can spare. fund.godotengine.org

We optimized draw calls by 99% (lol) in Hidden Folks 2 by writing some tools to find all textures used in a level, generate a level-specific atlas, and replace individual texture references with atlas textures. Thread below ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ #godotengine

Just remembered that 10 years ago I traveled to Moscow once a year for work. Photo I took in 2014 (first trip) visiting Red Square. Feels like a whole lifetime ago!

Gamescom 2026 Thoughts: - Big studios playing it safe with sequels, remakes, etc - Smaller studios struggling for funding. - Almost zero metaverse, NFT, blockchain, VR/XR - 'Prompt your game/asset' AI tech demos mostly didn't work - Increase in Asia presence: games, IPs, companies, etc

Game engines: - Unreal devs/studios are not happy about news of Blueprints being sunset - Godot massively on the rise with indies - Unity devs using the engine due to familiarity; cautious but hopeful for future of the company - Studios investing in own tech/engines for ownership & control

My hottest take: There are SO MANY Indie games; but majority of them are identical. Same art style, same game loop, same elevator pitch. I struggle to see how many of them manage to sell enough copies to break even. Indie games that had a unique visual style stood massively out and will sell well.

Imagine having the amount of narcissism to wear earrings of your own product that has an image on them of yourself wearing earrings of your own product (and repeat this forever).

Godot rise up! ๐Ÿค–๐Ÿซก ๐Ÿ”œ Global Game Jam

Game Maker's Toolkit@gamemakerstoolkit.com

Well, it finally happened! After 9 years of Unity dominance, Godot was the most used game engine for GMTK Game Jam 2026 submissions. ๐Ÿค– Godot - 47% ๐ŸŽฎ Unity - 34% ๐Ÿ› ๏ธGameMaker - 5% ๐Ÿš€ Unreal Engine - 3% โœจ Other - 11%

Really happy that more people are discovering what a pleasant, fun & powerful engine Godot is; and the benefits of your tools being free & open source! ๐Ÿ˜

Thoroughly loved The Odyssey. Mostly because: in an era where so many movies & shows are being made on a very obvious closed stage with a big digital screen behind the actors, it weirdly feels exciting & refreshing to see a movie actually filmed outside, with real lights and real sets.

Finally saw System Of A Down live! They were the band that got me into heavy/metal music when I was 10 and are a fitting last band to tick off on my live music bucketlist 25 years later. ๐Ÿ˜ Perfect stadium show. 30 songs with no breaks. Band were locked-in & having fun. Crowd were very hyped. ๐Ÿคฉ

I remember accidentally watching the music video for Chop Suey on MTV and thinking "This is so weird and chaotic; I must now buy all of their albums". I listened to their first 2 albums everyday on my CD player almost religiously. Hearing it all live is quite the nostalgia trip! ๐Ÿ˜„
