Hi! I'm Anna. I am a disabled and queer author of similarly queer and disabled YA and adult SFF. Will post a short synopsis of each, followed by representation you can expect and links where you can find that work. I will not cover every platform, but my books are available widely. Ready? Long 🧵:

Pro tip: generally, if you have to hide a set of your beliefs to sell books, it’s not the audience that’s at fault here! Might just be your devotion to the openly racist, misogynistic, queerphobic, ableist, pro-pedophile death cult.

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

Kid on the train, probably about 3: mummy I will check the weather Is handed phone, then looks up Kid: mummy how do I get to the weather She shows him, he looks it over somberly. Kid, with great gravity: it is going to rain forever

I love snow. It’s the height of awe for me, one of the things that makes me think even for a second that maybe there are forces humans can’t understand at work in the world.

God, there is so, so little support for disabled people and very little for nondisabled people trying to do right by disabled people in the worst situations. Sorry for the vaguepost. I try not to, but this is ongoing. We have to get better at caring on a societal level or none of this changes.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

My cousin just lamented that he turned 40 and now has to be a “daily pill taker”. It’s one. One pill a day. His first prescription. Meanwhile, I have been taking an entire pharmacy’s worth since my 20s. He’s joking about pill organizers. For his one pill. I can’t even.

My cousin has some…difficulty with interpersonal relationships, so he doesn’t understand that complaining about getting old because he now has to take one pill a day in a family full of chronic illnesses is maybe unkind.

OMG, Scottish people facing flooding (maybe northern England too): NEVER DRIVE THROUGH FLOODWATER. Even if you think you see the bottom. Just saw a sedan up to its door handles and the driver was STILL TRYING to drive through it.

Think of it this way—you know your neighbor who doesn’t pick up after his dog and spits on the ground and doesn’t keep rubbish from flying out of his bins? That water has all that and more in it.

Do not walk through floodwater. Do not drive through floodwater. Do not raft through floodwater. Just stay the fuck away from floodwater. Love, the American who averaged three natural disasters a year before moving here

Astrid has two modes of engaging with me. The first, which we call “Mother”, is how she acts 75% of the time—aloof, vaguely irritated by the imposition of order, other people’s needs, gravity. 25% of her interactions with me, I’m “Mommy”. She nestles in my armpit or my hip and buzzes.

She also sometimes attempts to nurse on everything from blankets to fingers to the air. But only when she is seeking Mommy type interaction. She has been DEEP in Mommy territory this weekend, between the wind and our upstairs neighbor’s dog panic barking.

We know that she, like so many semiferal cats, got pregnant WAY too early, but there are so many kitten behaviors tucked in there past the violence. I don’t think she really had a chance to just be baby. :(

Historical costuming page comments: Wow I wish I had money Um actually [completely ahistorical notion of past, usually the Victorians’ fault] Why are they wearing GLASSES; can’t they take this more seriously Why do you all dress like fancy people most people were peasants [straight up racism]

That said, get with the program. "It is critically important that all these bigoted dems lose" No. Think bigger. IT IS CRITICALLY IMPORTANT THAT OUR ELECTEDS FEEL THEY MUST LISTEN TO US.

Please say that y’all remember that we do the opposite of what this walking staph infection says, right? He opposes wearing a mask, so wearing a mask is therefore… Good. Wear a goddamn mask. It scares the guy who works out in blue jeans.

RFK decided to once again target maskers in a speech, laughing about going to LA and seeing people driving in their cars while masked. And I want to make sure people know that studies have shown that the reason someone might wear a mask in their car is that it's none of your fucking business.

The health authorities here are starting to refer to “American COVID” to differentiate it, because apparently this one is a kick in the teeth, and it’s spreading like wildfire. Protect others and yourself.

This is an ideal situation for him. Please remember that and do everything possible to avoid giving him what he wants. Which is unchecked disease and culling of “the weak”. You have the power to not help him, but you have to actually do it.

Seriously, though, somewhere between 1 in 10 and 1 in 15 people in my home state have either the flu or COVID right now. It’s OCTOBER. This year is going to be incredibly rough, and we haven’t even got to the part where everyone goes to other people’s houses after flying in germ tubes.

In the morning when I am frustrated with myself for not sleeping, I can look back and see exactly why I was too nervous to sleep. Ghosts having a little kick about

I have been seeing a lot of “if it’s on the internet, you should expect it to be scraped” posts lately, and as practical advice, sure. It is also thoroughly okay to be mad about this fact! We SHOULD be able to use devices and services without accidentally signing over souls.

It’s starting to be on par with “well, what were you expecting” when atrocities happen or democracy is attacked or any politician except Mamdani does anything at all. It can be true AND infuriating! In fact, it should be!

Whew these winds are so strong, the trees in my back garden are completely bare now. Earlier, they all still had leaves. I was trying to figure out why the sound is stressing me out so much, and frankly, it’s because it’s like the ocean out my window.

The venn diagram of people who can’t understand disability rights until they impact them and people who try to tell me the below aren’t actually happening is a circle.

I do things like tell people when I have access issues just trying to get down the street, or when people condescend to me, or when employers screw me over. Why does it take happening to you or someone you care about for it to matter? I literally told you I can’t travel safely and am mistreated!
