“It’s only fascism if they manipulate elections!” “It’s only fascism if they disappear people off the street!” “It’s only fascism if they take over the media!” “It’s only fascism if they jail their political opponents!” Is there even anything left?

Voter registration deadlines are SUNDAY in Alaska, Rhode Island, South Carolina. And MONDAY in: Arizona, Arkansas Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee, and *Texas*. If you live in these states, verify your registration now, literally.

When Republicans campaign, they really will attack who they say they'll attack, but won't help who they claim to help. When Democrats campaign, they really will help who they say they'll help, but won't attack who they claim to attack.

"I didn't vote for this" doesn't work well with Trump, because he explicitly ran on this stuff and has a whole first term to see that he only cares about himself. Would love to be proven wrong that Dems can actually go after all the corruption and law-breaking, but I'll believe it when I see it.

This is exactly why it's important to not let your country be taken over by wealthy interests; they hold no values but dominating others and keeping their position on top. It's unamerican, and they're only building exponential wealth because we let them.

If you're wondering why authors are getting so rabid here: First Anthropic stole our books. Then we got denied compensation because of US unjust copyright law and publishers failing to meet their contractual obligations. Then publishers and agents apparently claimed author shares. Now this.

@courtneymilan.com I just pulled this from a post over on Facebook, felt like it might be info worth sharing...

I’ve support this app from the start, but I won’t a day longer if they are “both sides” on ethnic cleansing.

The Verge@theverge.com

1Password faced immediate backlash from customers this week over a $300,000 pledge in support of a Linux distro created by David Heinemeier Hansson, who has regularly published overtly racist blog posts that include comments calling for deportation of ethnic minorities in Europe.

These kind of men don’t actually want women. They want power over women; a choice to pickup (and discard) whoever they see and never risk rejection or offer anything in return.

Meg@prayingmantis.bsky.social

This parallels something I've been thinking about men who are into "looksmaxxing:" They say they do it to get women, but ugly guys get gfs all the time. What the looksmaxxers want is to be SO hot that they can get women _easily_, without putting forth effort, care, or consideration.

The casting in the Spider-Man series has been incredibly good, all of these people have great chemistry together. I'm avoiding spoilers but some of the side characters have surprisingly large parts of the story with actual arcs. It's nice to see Marvel movie with proper setups and payoffs.

I’ve said this before privately and now I’m saying it on the record Go check the status of your voter registration and set a recurring reminder to do it again this time in two weeks. Do not let this lapse.

Trump doesn’t force people to do bad things. All he did was show people they could get away with being horrible if they really wanted to, and a lot of powerful people decided they didn’t need to pretend anymore. Especially those in influential positions who could push back but did not.

Morally, pragmatically, I want to ask the defenders “why do you ~want~ to be repped by a rapist?” We’re going to keep hitting this point because it’s not a surprise. We told y’all “it’s not just going to be a tattoo.”

Courtney Milan@courtneymilan.com

Finally, anyone who says things like "oh why do WE have to get rid of the rapists and abusers in our party when they get TRUMP" just wants us to lose.

Trump: It's not working! Why don't they love the fair? How do I make the crowds cheer? Oracle of DC: If you test your strength against the heat with a very long speech, the nation will celebrate harder than they ever have. They will party in the streets. No one will ever forget the night.

I know the list is endless but I genuinely think trashing the legitimate congressionally chartered org for celebrating the 250th to instead hijack our national assets and taxpayer funds for his personality cult grifter crap should, in and of itself, be fully sufficient to merit removal from office.

yeah unfortunately the point at which security agents started manufacturing crimes to so they could arrest people to support the delusions of a single personalist ruler was the point at which the story stopped being silly heavy-handed metaphor and started being of real concern

i think the reflecting pool has gone from “haha what a dumb ass” to “appointing a horse to the senate” level of story here

In a society that actually cares about people, someone who's even believed to be stealing diapers would be met with assistance, resources, and money to make sure they would never again feel like they must steal for their basic needs. In the U.S., we respond by sending government sanctioned killers.

Ashton Pittman@ashtonpittman.bsky.social

Kohen Wiley, a 1-year-old child, is dead after a Mississippi police officer shot into a car and killed him. Family members say his mother was holding him in the passenger seat. The officers were responding to a shoplifting call over a box of diapers at the Senatobia Walmart.

I would really like for outlets to, after stating the government’s allegations, at least mention the fact that the car ran into us. An ICE agent drove into a crowd. Of people. Who were peacefully protesting. And then the government tried to paint us as a lawless mob.

Chicago Tribune@chicagotribune.com

In an 11-page indictment filed on Oct. 23, 2025, prosecutors alleged six defendants were part of a group that had surrounded an ICE vehicle outside the Broadview facility during a protest.

E. Jean Carroll didn't just "accuse" Trump of sexual assault. She won a civil lawsuit against Trump for sexual assault. A jury found that Trump sexually assaulted her. She deserves for us to call it what it is.

ProPublica used leaked tax returns to calculate that through complex tax avoidance schemes, Jeff Bezos pays a tax rate of 0.98% www.propublica.org/article/the-... So if we doubled the taxes he pays, that would mean he'd still be paying less than 2%.

Musk's companies are going to implode. He's been scamming too hard for too long and keeps bundling them together to cover for the fact that he's losing tons of money and propped up by speculative investors totally detached from real output. This frankenstein's monster can screw up our whole economy.

Chief Justice Roberts says the court isn't political. This week, six justices "read" 107 pages of legal briefing in 38 minutes and let Alabama gerrymander its congressional map mid-election. The stopwatch says otherwise.

Anyone remember the Purcell doctrine, saying courts shouldn't change electoral districts too close to the election because it might cause confusion? Remember how SCOTUS applied it six months ago to say it was already too late to invalidate the Texas districts? Funny how that didn't happen in Callais

FDR’s Fireside chat on March 9, 1937 explaining his proposal to expand the Supreme Court stands up surprisingly well. “We have reached the point as a nation where we must take action to save the Constitution from the Court and the Court from itself.”/1

So, what the hell is coaching for writers? Above all, it's tailored to the needs of every individual writer--there's no one-size-fits-all summary. It's one-on-one support, from troubleshooting a specific project, to body doubling, to addressing more complex issues like burnout. (cont'd)

Jay Edidin@edidin.bsky.social

Are you a writer looking to learn a new medium, recover from burnout, or bring joy back to your work? I have a handful of current openings for coaching clients - if you're interested, shoot me an email at jay(dot)edidin(at)gmail(dot)com with the subject line COACHING QUERY!

Trump had claimed cheating in all three of his elections BEFORE THEY EVEN STARTED. He not only doesn’t accept defeat, he hates democracy itself. Shame on our country for treatment him as anything other than a bullshit artist.
