There is nothing quite like thinking, "I should make a document detailing [thing] before it all gets too unwieldy to remember", opening my docs ready to do so, and… discovering that I already made it six months ago, and all I need to do now is update it 😁

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

So we're doing "first 5 RPGs I played", is it. In order: 1. Middle Earth Role Playing (original version) 2. Dungeons & Dragons (basic & advanced) 3. Tunnels & Trolls 4. Traveller 5. Advanced Fighting Fantasy …it was England in the mid-1980s, there weren't a whole lot of RPGs one *could* play…! 😂🎲

Iain McAllister@giantbrain.co.uk

First 5 TTRPGs I played (well mostly ran) 1) Advanced Fighting Fantasy (at school) 2) Deadlands (university from here on) 3) WFRP 2nd Edition 4) 7th Sea 5) Dogs in the Vineyard (actually a player in this)

I should add that I didn't play any of these for very long, mostly because I swiftly realised I didn't like overly crunchy rules, and also thought I could do better. Story of my life 😂 So my friends and I moved on to other games, and for years I also used to write and run my own systems.

You asked AI for the cheapest flight. It dug through your emails, decided you could afford more, and suggested a ticket costing $100–$200 extra. Lindsay Owens explains ⬇️

I have exactly 7 days left on my kickstart campaign for my self published RPG adventure! The campaign has been going great which has allowed me to commission art to really enhance things. Check out this sweet cover art by Fred Zinn: These dapper goblins need a... favor? Interior art coming soon!

I'm doing a thing! I'm crowdfunding $$ to self publish a little RPG adventure I wrote. More info at: tonypartykill.com

The AAA industry continues on its path towards becoming SSS: sports, sequels, and shooters. And some of those games are good, sure. But when they're all that remains in the big-budget space, it's no wonder most of the interesting work these days is being created by indie studios.

I get a dozen AI-generated scam emails every day, as do most authors I know. It's hard to see how they can possibly be profitable… until you read a piece like this. Truly eye-opening.

If you’re an author who’s been receiving verbose AI scam emails on a daily basis, and you’re wondering how gullible and ego-driven people think you are, this article helps to explain them. Sadly, they are successful enough to have been built into a big business. www.thedial.world/articles/new...

A new NAP COMIX collection! I backed this the moment I got the alert in my inbox. The first book was wonderful, I can't wait for this one.

Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! The Kickstarter campaign for NAP COMIX: FIRST STEPS, the newest volume collecting the Nap Comix webcomics in beautiful paperback book form, IS HERE! tinyurl.com/firststepsbook I'm so excited!

One of the best things about being a writer is that reading is legitimately an important part of the job… including one's own work. Currently proofreading the galleys of The Dog Sitter Detective Bites Back, making notes and annotations as I go. Not too many, thank goodness 😅🐶🔍

My finest ever work. I wrote it on a treadmill in a gym, recording each title, as I thought of them, into the notes app.

Heading home after hosting Can You Solve the Murder? Live last night for a packed house at the Fatal Shore festival. What a great crowd, and what a great festival overall: lively, interesting, and smoothly run. Highly recommended.

Over 40% of corn grown in Indiana is used to make ethanol that cars burn. One acre of corn yields about 16,500 vehicle-miles per year of ethanol, which sounds high until you realize that one acre of solar yields about 2,700,000 vehicle-miles per year: 16,000% more driving for a given plot of land.

Aaaaaand there it is. Rough draft of Can You Solve the Murder? book 3 finished at last. Now I’ve got a month to polish, rewrite, and edit all 90,000 words (!) before it’s due to my editor. But for now, a short break… 😴

The UK Arts & Ents industry contributes over £10bn to the UK economy a year & one of these days our politicians might even realise that instead writing it off as icky girlie flouncing bc you can't do a photoshoot in a hard hat & hi-vis gilet at the national theatre without looking like a tit

Danielle Blake@abradacabla.bsky.social

I mean for one thing Neil, if you guys invested in the arts at all you’d have come up with a less embarrassing riff on the Bayeux Tapestry than that AI slop

Marcia's on holiday and I've been away for a few days, so empty house + almost-empty fridge = prawn and soy chicken stir fry in an improvised hoisin + soy sauce. Very nice, but tomorrow = grocery shopping 😅
