One of the best Internet experiences is being told of the existence of someone who sucks but only so you can then be told that they just lost an election

Bumping this one for the evening crowd - this is the opportunity of a lifetime for me and I need to help to be able to take it. Any amount or share is so appreciated.

Top surgery is literally a dream come true for me, but the cost associated with it isn't. I've had a shit year work-wise, and could really use some help making sure I can afford existing while I recover. Any amount or share is so appreciated. gofund.me/7ade47c85

When I say I love Cheesecake Factory, I mean this cat who was found malnourished and wandering through a Bay Area mall parking lot. Cheesecake Factory has since been rescued and nursed back to health. He's now healthy, vaxxed, & sweet, but still needs a loving home www.petfinder.com/cat/cheeseca...

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

they did those things & also made the new Battlestar Galactica! Partly to say, "WE DID TELL YOU, here are some Oscar nominees so you LISTEN this time" [not technically shilling for my book because it doesn't come out til 2028, but this right here 👇 was a notable part of the underpinnings of BSG]

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Here's a direct link to House Dem's Judiciary Cmte report. Per a new report from House Democrats, Trump's DOJ is withholding evidence of his ties to Epstein and slow-walking the complete release of the Epstein files. It's time to end the cover-up and expose the truth. Remember this when you cast your ballot. www.ms.now/news/house-j...

My first day at Broadview, Oct 3, 2025, Kristi Noem was there, as was Greg Bovino, and a LOT was going on, but I will go to my grave knowing I told Bovino to go fuck himself in person, which is extremely not nothing. life is all about storing up memories to treasure 🙏

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

kind of reminds me of the whistle goblins' outtake whistles ending up in the art by @mostlybree.kitrocha.com 's mother at the Minn State Fair. Actions can live on in ways we don't expect... transformed by art... there is so much work to be done, always, but that is really something. 💚👊

on fb I was like, SHANNON I STILL HAVE THE SIGN as if she was going to make me do some kind of authentication thing... when my friend mary was in the comments like, "Hang on, she's 2 blocks away from me, i'm sending up a flare" the upside of having met another middle school mom protesting ICE

thehandbasket.coRepublicans don’t have a Nazi problem—they are the Nazi problemA spate of recent revelations have shown the ideologies and their adherents are one and the same.

This week’s main story is about how more and more white nationalists, antisemites, and Nazi sympathizers seem to be integrating into the Republican Party, how some of them are currently running for office, and how old you can be for JD Vance to consider you “a very young boy.”

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

The achievement of Serbian students overthrowing Aleksandar Vučić can't be overstated. In 2024, they began protesting. In 2025, they transformed a protest movement into civil dissidence. In 2026, they became a political party — and two months later, crushed a corrupt state-entrenched authoritarian.

flop 2: the floppening

capitolhunters@capitolhunters.bsky.social

In Serbia, MAGA influencers from the US were dispatched to Serbia to whip up enthusiasm for the hard-right Alexsandar Vucic who had held power for 12 years. They failed too and the students' movement won.

What is true is that this was a conflict—and make no mistake, this was a conflict; this was a protracted battle in a hybrid war, more than anything—that was largely fought by large numbers of people laboriously working to unfuck the nation's informational environment.

Apparently, some Houston voters are putting their I Voted stickers on the Lorenzo Salgado Araujo memorial. Stephen Miller is ALREADY trying to scapegoat others for losing whatever races they lose in Texas and elsewhere. This is a vivid testament that for some voters, his murder squad is the reason.

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.
