Call me naive, but it'd be nice to have a secretary of state who believes in the idea of the state department instead of whatever the fuck this is.

Eric Levai@ericlevai.bsky.social

Did he think this was a private message or something?

I assume the breakdown of footage captured by 360 cameras on sports cars is something like: 1% cool shit 39% tootling around between cool shit locations 60% getting pulled over by every cop in 50 mile radius

watching the 4K release of Ronin with frankenheimer's commentary and learning that the car chases in the movie were happening *at speed*. no camera tricks or anything, they were straight up *racing*. "we set up all the actors in high performance driving school so they were used to the speeds."

So he either meant to say "Congress," or, the funnier explanation is someone told him his poll numbers with "college educated voters" and this is how it came out of his Play-Doh Fun Factory-ass head.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "Every single Democrat in college voted against our tax cuts"

Hey you little couch fucker, your boss has tried to get several late night hosts taken off the air because they hurt his feelings!

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

JD Vance: "When you're mean to Amy Acton, she sics the American media and of course the Democrat Party operatives all across the state of Ohio after you. But I think a person who is more worried about whether somebody says something mean about them, that person can never serve in the gov's mansion"

using stationary storage as a way to develop and build scale around the emerging sodium ion battery cells, before putting them into cars (as Chinese automakers are just starting to), is a sign that GM is actually thinking strategically about its EV business

Michelle Ma@michellema.bsky.social

EXCLUSIVE: GM led a $108M financing round for Peak Energy, a sodium-ion energy storage startup building a California plant. Peak says it already has about $1.1B in customer orders. 🎁 link: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

We've built incentives for amoral, grasping try-hards to become obsequious little ghouls. We're never going to be rid of them, so we have to disincentivize this behavior. Up to us whether we want to do that through laws or guillotines. Laws is probably less of a hassle, tbh.

If this is real, I may be interested in selling some organs in order for this to be our next family car. I WANT AN EV WAGON!

Antifa CEO (official)@ultrafast.bsky.social

Subaru testing an EV wagon mule with 510hp, a long dash-to-axle ratio, and front double wishbones???

It is very funny that we have to hear constantly about what a political savant this man is. "Yes, I started a needless war and no you can't afford groceries but you little piggies are still going to pay for a golf course you'll never see, it's VERY IMPORTANT!"

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "The Department of Interior wants to take a terrible and very unsafe golf course, and make it into a great, safe, and prestigious golf course ... They do not need an approval. Work is scheduled to begin IMMEDIATELY!"

Turns out the friction of having to learn photoshop was a crucial firewall protecting society from the terrible taste of small business owners

When I first heard about AI being used for menus and advertisements, my concern was largely that it would be used to idealize the food and make it look better than it actually was. At no point did I imagine that restaurants would willingly put out horrific looking images of their food on purpose

I didn't catch at first this happened in Caro. If you know mid-Michigan, you know Caro is about the friendliest place imaginable for the Tommys of the world. Yes, it was an AES event, but STILL.

SCOOP: 'Tommy' from the now-viral exchange with Abdul El-Sayed is Thomas Teepell, a former staffer for Republican Senator Josh Hawley with close ties to Christian Nationalist Sean Feucht. He's the son of a former Bobby Jindal staffer whose consultant work was instrumental in getting Hawley elected.

This is such a great example of using the "please explain it to me" tactic when confronted with bigotry. Just calmly walk the idiot to the line and dare them to cross it. So effective and usable on everyday life!

Abdul El-Sayed@abdulelsayed.bsky.social

This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.

My money-no-object daydream has long been a totally custom rebuild/reimagining of my MkIV VW R32. Basically, what if Group B never ended and VW decided to build a mid-engine carbon fiber bodied Golf platform? It would be stupid expensive and serve basically no purpose and I want it.

question for the audience: if you were ultra rich (let’s say $25M), what completely frivolous thing are you buying?

"The world's wealthiest man, a white supremacist, has the power to cause an entire nation to lose a war to a powerful invader" really seems like it should be the biggest story in the world right now. www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2...

Funny enough we *just* watched this again for the first time with our kids over the summer. There's definitely an alternate universe where the Shrek movies were very important to us, but we both kinda forgot about it tbh.

Broke: Deriding cities while pumping up "real America" Woke: Espousing the benefits of a pluralistic, cosmopolitan community Bespoke: Why the fuck can't I get a decent cup of coffee in this goddamn hick town!?

William B. Fuckley@opinionhaver.bsky.social

i do unironically think people that are cosmopolitan need sorta paradoxically be more chauvinist about it tbh. places and people that are cosmopolitan in outlook are better than places that are provincially minded. the kind of performative handwringing about not being 'authentic' is bad and weak.

Unfucking this one in particular needs to be a priority for the new Congress. This is very, very bad. This alone is worth impeaching Hegseth.

Hot take: Jaguar Type 01 : Britain :: Cybertruck : USA Massive compromises to accommodate a singular, ultimately cartoonish design vision resulting in a too-large, too-heavy car. Both ended up looking like an armored vehicle for transport through the guillotine-wielding mobs we know are coming.

Hear me out: I know ev sports cars have all been failures, but I honestly think Hyundai could pull off a miata-sized ev roadster. Make it light, don't give it 3,000 ft-lbs of torque, make the styling funky.

We are moving toward a future with 3 main types of vehicles, & in fact we are almost there: 1. Gray four-door crossover the size of a Honda CR-V with invisible design. 2. $100K electric sedan with screens everywhere. 3. Giant pickup whose hood is higher than the roofs of the first two vehicle types.

Yes, they're evil ghouls, and of course they're the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet. But the best part? They're also absolute dweebs.

Figuring out why Ossoff is so effective is an interesting task. I think he's mastering a kind of stern dignity that is uniquely compelling in contrast to the clownish cruelty of the other side. I think the other person who's kind of hit on the same thing is AOC, though in a different register
