I was in Target today and I saw Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury and read it as “Bowser’s furry” and I thought “well no, he would be a scalie” and I’m afraid I cannot recover from this.

It is incredibly fascinating seeing all of the people in Twitter/X freak out about the change last.fm made that banned clearly bottled accounts and scrobbles (as if the number REALLY matters in 2026) reviewbomb the app. Mind you the only people mad about this are people who were botting.

A metal legend has passed away today. At the Gates is arguably the most influential melodic death band of all time (certainly next to In Flames and Dark Tranquility). Without them, an entire era of bands might not be around. Metalcore as we know it now started it's next wave in the early 00s 1/?

And the influences those bands had (especially At the Gates) had on it are immediately heard in the vocals and riffs. Of course you can't forget all of the melo death bands that spawns in the early to mid 00s as well that owe so much to the Gothenburg scene in the 90s. 2/?

I know its a hot take, but I definitely think Slip It In is Black Flag's best album. The title track (and the album opener) is iconic. You're Not Evil is excellent and the constant slow-fast dynamics are great. Really solid effort all around.

Another death that hits pretty hard to me. Mastodon was one of the first "progressive" bands I first got into and enjoyed thanks to Rock Band 2 with "Colony of Birchman" (I heard Blood & Thunder on Need For Speed Most Wanted back in 2005 but it didn't really catch my attention when I was 10) 1/?

I was really hoping that his whole fallout with the rest of the band would get resolved (whatever that was going to entail) and to see his life tragically cut short because of a motorcycle accident is devastating. Brent was a crazy good and creative musician. 2/?

Crack the Skye is one of the most important progressive metal albums of the 00s and he had a large hand in that. Insane songwriting and musicianship all around and now that is tragically gone. I hope people take time to appreciate him and his contributions to the music community. RIP Brent Hinds 3/3

There are no real amount of words to state how large of an impact Ozzy had on the world on music. We experienced a terrible loss today. One of the first artists anyone associates (myself included) to the words "heavy metal". Its hard to explain how much of an impact he had on my tastes early on. 1/3
