It is amazing what universities will stand up for and against when there’s money involved. Land-grant Us have their own association because of course they do. They will stand up for each other to keep NIH. It’s a matter of law and civility in the settler imperium.

Just in case you thought that removing DEI criteria would mean that everyone is competing equally: NIH is removing grad students from underrepresented backgrounds from the applicant pool altogether. Their applications will not be considered. Other students, not from these backgrounds, will be.

I hope every Indigenous artist proposes a celebration of "Merciless Indian Savages" for the semiquincentinnial. America250! Amazing.

So, the National Endowment for the Arts announced today that they are reworking the guidelines for all 2026 grants and will be prioritizing projects that center the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It's now just a propaganda fund. www.arts.gov/news/press-r...

If you haven't ever read it, here's President Andrew Jackson's December 6, 1830 speech "On Indian Removal." Worth a read. Jackson posits 12 million happy people against a few thousand savages. It's a fitting tribute to the US's glorious law abiding presidency: www.archives.gov/milestone-do...

Leslie Marmon Silko's Almanac of the Dead was an apocalyptic road map vision for where we are now as billionaire oligarch destroyers imagine leaving us the ruins as they ascend to Mars.

Where are folks getting reliable news? Any recommended podcasts, etc? Who is holding the intersections that attacks on trans kids in k-12 happened in a simultaneous EO attack on Black and Indigenous histories toward a celebration of 1776 in 2026? If I hear 1940s one more time as the frame, I will 🤮.

With the attack on academia and all of our institutions still adjudicating the "disruptions" students caused with policies to arrest and surveil student activism, it is clearer than ever that DEI was never supported, was a facile compromise to substantive change.

Of course, those of us who theorize structures of systemic oppression, intersectionality, settler colonialism, race, Indigeneity and gender have always known that our work is framed as incompetent, that we are reiterative but never transformative. What we write is already known & judged worthless.

I am trying to crowd source a wide range of analyses because everything is weighted within US empire. Yes, USAID is an imperialist agent of disaster couched in humanitarian aid, AND Elon Musk and Trump are not anti-capitalists or anti-Imperialists who are going bring transparency to where tax $$ go.
