3650 days after the alleged offense—the LAST DAY possible given a 10-year statute of limitations—prosecutors filed an information. No grand jury. But the statute says an “indictment” must be filed within 10 yrs. The government is arguing “indictment” really means “indictment OR information.” 🫤

I saw protein seltzer on the shelf at target. Y’all need to stop it.

Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted

We are watching a coup d’état attempt unfold in real time in Brazil. I’m consumed by desperation.

The Cheesecake Factory Architect was previously fired by said sultan for being “too maximalist”.

Cheesecake Factory Architect: The vibe I’m going for is “insane sultan sorcerer who keeps murdering his wives and constructs an enchanted palace designed to forever trap their souls”

Just ate a Kudos apple and that was gross. They advertise a crisp texture but it was mealy… and the “tropical overtones” were like air refreshers notes. Incredibly juicy but 0/10.

$446 million of his (sometime) reported net worth of $1 trillion means he’s still only spending 0.0446% of his net worth to try to buy elections. put in more concrete terms: if you had $100, this would be like spending less than 5 cents. now tell me again why i should vote against a wealth tax.

History doesn't reset the day after Trump. It's not automatic back to normal, yay democracy won. We will still have a republic that is gravely wounded and bleeding out. Defeating the current assailant doesn't mean you've stopped the bleeding. The wounds are still there and still potentially fatal.

That it'll fail because they lack sufficient consolidation and centralized control does not make it trivial that the president of the United States is trying to steal elections and produce an illegitimate sham Congress. It is open rebellion against the Constitution and morally tantamount to treason.

Folks, doomerism includes arguing you shouldn't bother doing ANYTHING if you aren't addressing the largest issue. And screw that, especially when it comes to environmental and animal rights issues. Factories produce way more pollution, but like don't support repealing catalytic converters.

Andrew Rothstein@asrothstein.bsky.social

I forgot that animal cruelty is a zero-sum game and that supporting ethical consumption only matters if you go address the biggest elephant in the room.

Suggesting that DC's foie gras ban is waste of time and effort because McDonalds exists and uses factories farms. Like okay, fuck those geese being force fed with funnels shoved down their throats because there are less of them? Pain olympics level bullshit. Incremental improvement matters y'all.

Kirk: ThEy aRe gOinG to PooCh kIcK! Al Michaels: How did you get this job?

Andrew Rothstein@asrothstein.bsky.social

Kirk: This wasn't a mistake it was Mike Vrabel playing 5th dimension chess! Al Michaels: I mean...sure why not. Anything's possible champ.

Again it's not universal. There is a whole myriad of exempt crimes. Like A LOT. This is meant to ensure that the limited pool of eligible people don't have to then spend time and money navigating a process that statistics say people struggle to use.

GM next week: Despite our touting our cars as a sort of spouse, the tail pipe heats up 250 degrees and is not designed for and should not be used for ummm “relations”.

He doesn’t have time for that. Ben was a busy and practical man. He’s buying two of the oil drums of lube from Amazon.

Everybody talks about ICE but the list of people who need to be named and shamed and barred from working for the government is long and goes much further down the ranks than most people thinks. So much complicity and “just following orders”.

Civilians applying for jobs in the Pentagon are also being vetted this way, but worse: asked if Trump won the 2020 election.

Most disturbing thing in this article was finding out the Halo OST composer is not just a republican but runs a discord that had a surprising number of neo-Nazis in it with little action taken until the press acted.

I’m not someone who can separate artistry from the person, at least for living artists. There’s no way to listen to old Kanye without funding new Kanye. This sucks because Halo’s music is independently fantastic. Well…was fantastic. Guess it’s time to listen to Sid Meir’s Civilization instead.
