Mom I am celebrating who you were today—your spirit, your humour, and the huge heart you shared with everyone. I miss you more than words can say, and I love you always. Happy birthday 💔🫶🏻

Here we go again… You missed out an important part. #Autistic children do not automatically need anything, And that includes therapies and “medical interventions” like medicinal cannabis. Stop using deficit based thinking about us. We are NOT BROKEN WE ARE #AUTISTIC

Thread 🧵 #Autistic #Grief

I’ve not been on here or any social media for a while .. My partner of 35 years died of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, a particularly aggressive form of pancreatic cancer, which had already spread to his liver and bones. The cancer had caused extensive damage…. 1/ #Cancer #Grief

I deal with #Autistic #Alexithymia ( difficulty identifying, distinguishing, and describing one's own emotions based on neuronormative standards ) It can make it hard to put feelings into words. I’ve lost my dad (at 15) and a dear friend as well as my mother in ‘21. #Autistic #Cancer 6/

Each time I’ve dealt with a death I’ve reacted the same way . My processing is delayed. I share this because #Autistic grief is different and everyone does grieve differently. It’s just we don’t follow neuronormative standards of #Grief I hope this helps any #Autistic person who feels alone End/

At the beginning of August, we first began to suspect that something wasn’t right. None of us could have imagined that, just a few short weeks later, we would be saying goodbye .. My (adult) children and I are devastated and still in shock if I’m honest… 4/

Grief is different ( of course ) for #Autistic people . It does not always follow standard steps like sadness or crying… Many #autistic people like me experience a delayed emotional reaction, where the full weight of the loss hits days, weeks, and even months later. 5/ #Autistic #Cancer #Grief

with pockets of bone missing throughout his torso, chest and spine. Sadly, the radiotherapy didn’t work as we had hoped and, heartbreakingly, seemed to make things worse…. 2/ #PancreaticCancer

We had desperately hoped that my partner would be able to come home, where he could spend his final days surrounded by the comfort of home and the people who loved him. Sadly, things didn’t work out that way, and we never got that opportunity…. 3/ #Cancer #PancreaticCancer

I don't know loads about Dolly Parton but our baby daughter gets one book a month from Dolly Parton's Imaginarion Library and will do until she is five. I think setting up a charity to provide free books and inspire reading in children was a really incredible thing to do. imaginationlibrary.com/uk/

Yep I need space to process with no one around me or I will continue to spiral into a complete and long lasting overload #AutisticExperience

“The open book fountain designed like a book being turned page by page. This fountain is located in Egyetem Square in Budapest, Hungary, and is known as the Open Book Fountain.

It was created in 2012 by artist Kelecsenyi Gergely and engineer Jozsef Szita. The sculpture is made of marble and shaped like a large open book. Water jets from the spine of the book every few seconds, creating the illusion of pages being turned.” #Reddit

3. The review was commissioned in May 2024 in the wake of the Cass Review. The Health Council’s committee ran systematic literature searches and consulted outside clinical experts chosen for their differing perspectives on the care—a list that included Hilary Cass herself.

1. In an incredible new landmark review, the Health Council of the Netherlands has declared that gender-affirming care for trans youth works, reducing wait times is "morally urgent," and regret is rare. It is the latest of many Euro countries to advance care. Subscribe to support our journalism.

This is what it is important to pay attention to. We are watching national news and YouTubers devote time to the reflecting pool while ignoring the impact of a memo about the Olmsted act. As we argue about dramatics, policy change continues.

I have to say I’m not shocked but deeply disappointed and dismayed by the overtly racist comments that were on this post. We don’t speak about the internal #racism within our #Autistic / #Neurodivergent community and the fact IMHO that so Many in the community speak over them. 1/

This week, Grammy-winning singer SZA, née Solána Imani Rowe, shared that she had received a formal autism diagnosis. It may help more Black women and girls see themselves in a community that often overlooks them. https://bit.ly/4wyEgxP

I’m tired of it and this white ( like think Mayflower ancestry) will ALWAYS give space for Black, Brown & Indigenous Autistic & Neurodivergent people. We white #Autistic / #Neurodivergent people need to work harder . 19thnews.org/2026/07/sza-...
