Do I know anyone who uses Wikipedia? Someone (no idea who) made a Wikipedia page on me a few years back but it contains a lot of outdated or incorrect info, which is causing problems like people trying to contact me in the wrong places. Would be really helpful if someone could give it an overhaul!

I'm excited to read this and feel confident it will be an important intervention.

The first round of proofs is in 'Disabling Capitalism: A Critical Inquiry Into Work, Productivism and Disablement' - out on 25 Feb 2027 with @bristoluni.bsky.social as an Open Access ebook (no paywall) & in paperback bristoluniversitypress.co.uk/disabling-ca... #Capitalism #Work #Marxism #Disability

Saw a guy going viral saying how great UK pubs were 20 years ago when “nobody got offended” at banter. My memories of pubs then are of fully grown men being so offended that someone else, say, looked at them the wrong way, or spoke to their girlfriend, etc. that they would literally punch them.

Fwiw i think it was brave to stand in a seat where labour have such a strong starting point not to mention in such a hostile media environment. I was impressed by how well @zackpolanski.bsky.social did in the circumstances.

We TRIPLED our vote share. Second best byelection result in Green Party history. On a date that Labour chose to deliberately clash the same week as our conference. All with a brand new PM in previously a "safe" seat. Best response to all the absolute nonsense today? Join.greenparty.org.uk

Its interesting to see Hasan Piker point out that the Greens are now leading the way internationally and that the DSA should follow, whereas its previously been Greens following the DSA. I think this captures the motion's international and pragmatic significance. I do get why some anti-zionist 1/2

comrades oppose the motion on pragmatic grounds, seeing it as making the Greens less electable in the short term. That may or may not turn out to be true; but even so, looking purely at the national context overlooks the international significance. There remains both great risk and potential. 2/2

Palestinian poet Mohammed El-Kurd is currently being enthusiastically dunked on by western Discourse Guardians for the supposed incoherence of this post & I gotta say the irony metre jst exploded cos Mohammed wrote an entire book addressing exactly the rhetorical policing of Palestinian resistance

Very offline atm but as Luxemburg said we must say loudly what is happening: "zionism is racism" is not only true; it’s also obviously true yet vital to state given how its obviousness is being so fervently assaulted to stifle recognition of the apartheid and genocide.

Lovely to see Ed Sheeran's support acts quitting. I think often liberals dislike solidarity as it shines a light on the utter hollowness of their politics. They do everything they can to shut it down, discredit, or silence it. But always remember that they do this because they recognise its power.

'I promised my mum I wouldn't speak about banging my cousin at the fash convention' is just so on the nose what can you even say anymore

We have made a full documentary about what really happened at Reform conference. If you only watch a bit of it please make it these 39 seconds. You won't regret it.

Its been extremely stressful leaving academia due to rising transphobia but I am also relieved in some ways, given the terrible state of the industry in the uk. It feels like its gone through neoliberalism into something more like feudalism, which is hardly compatible with free thought.

What a great time to read #EmpireOfNormality: Neurodiversity & Capitalism, by @drrobertchapman.bsky.social 🦋 www.plutobooks.com/product/empi...

What gets to me about this is how EduCogSci proponents so thoroughly denounced "experts". Yet those experts were most often academics doing work for academia, not for-profit. Those experts were replaced by themselves, and then came the opportunities for profit.

Went to stroke my cat who was loafing next me on the sofa earlier. I must have pressed the wrong button, as she very suddely sprang into the air, flew across the room, and fell behind the other sofa, all in one single motion. She then acted like this was totally normal, of course.

It won't let me sign without a university role but would have signed this.

We have written a statement in support of Ghent Uni's decision to suspend Nathan Cofnas. We resist attempts to frame this as a punishment for "whistleblowing" or censorship of "controversial research". We invite all academics who share our views to sign our letter. forms.gle/qwN8xzEM5C7Q...

I don't know loads about Dolly Parton but our baby daughter gets one book a month from Dolly Parton's Imaginarion Library and will do until she is five. I think setting up a charity to provide free books and inspire reading in children was a really incredible thing to do. imaginationlibrary.com/uk/

An insightful review by @parkerian.bsky.social of @drrobertchapman.bsky.social's Empire of Normality: Neurodiversity and Capitalism. Strongly recommend you read the review, the book, and other works by both Chapman and Parker.

Delighted with the first review of Empire of Normality, a careful and insightful engagement written by Ian Parker. anticapitalistresistance.org/the-empire-o...

Saw all the big name philosophy and psychology professors listed as referees on eugenicist Nathan Cofnas's CV and feel a bit sick seeing how well networked he is. (And of course he has refereed for the Journal of Controversial Ideas eleven times.)

Me, a US-based academic: I don’t care what any scholar believes, we all need to stand up publicly whenever someone’s academic freedom is threatened Me, continuing: also, the first time this has happened, motivating me to sign my first ever open letter, is in late 2026, to a race scientist, in Ghent

This is right IMO. The reason why we see increased diagnosis is because society (capitalism) is increasingly reliant on conformity, narrowing the range of what counts as "normal" - if you are sufficiently different, you are disabled. @drrobertchapman.bsky.social has written a book about it.

Marie Le Conte@youngvulgarian.marieleconte.com

really does feel, as an ideology, like to them there is A Norm, and you can either obey The Norm and be exactly like everyone else, or you can be A Freak and not be meaningfully welcome in society, and everyone should be trying their hardest to fit The Norm a sad view of the world!

Seems worth repeating this recommendation in the wake of Arday's death.

For world autism day I want to urge you to read "We See The Things They'll Never See: Love, Hope, and Neurodiversity" by Chantelle Jessica Lewis and Jason Arday. One of the few books on autism that treats it politically in a genuinely insightful way imo. press.princeton.edu/books/paperb...
