Looks like Lula, and democracy, won in Brazil! www.theguardian.com/world/live/2...
I’ve already voted here in Minnesota and it was only for candidates that explicitly support trans rights. I treated staying silent on trans rights the same as openly opposing them. My right to exist is my single issue. It’s why I moved to this state.
Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.
Can we get a council-manager system here? People like Jacob Frey shouldn’t be in charge of a hotdog stand let alone city services for 430K people.
I should have mentioned that my office is Minneapolis Elections & Voter Services. The Mayor's budget eliminates seven staff members less than two weeks before an anxiety-inducing midterm. No more high school election judge program. No more voter outreach.

Trans people hold our noses and vote for the “lesser evil” far more than cis people realize. Yet we’re all thrown under the bus just the same when one of us dares to ask for the “lesser evil” to support restoring rights we’ve lost. Cis people elected Trump. Y’all clean up your own house.
It turns out that choosing the lesser of two evils is, in fact, a moral imperative. And some folks want to wait for the Revolutionary Perfect, but I would equally challenge them to demonstrate a single time where a 'start from nothing, year-0' revolution has turned out well for most people.

this is decent, but we really just need to ban right turns on red lights in minneapolis entirely. they're equally unsafe for pedestrians at every intersection
Today the Minneapolis City Council's Climate & Infrastructure Committee will be discussing the city's 2-way bikeways and conflicts with right turning vehicles at signalized intersections. Most of these intersections don't have signage prohibiting a right turn through a red light.

Weren’t you posting about coffee prices when ICE and CBP were terrorizing Minnesota last winter?
I'm grateful for the heroic work of law enforcement that prevented a mass shooting and terrorist attack at the Mall of America. This shows why we continue to need major coordinated investments in anti-terrorism and local law enforcement to stop attacks like these.
We have these kinds of bus stops in Minneapolis. I use a mobility aid and all I do is look both ways before crossing the few feet from the sidewalk to the bus stop 🤷♀️ And this is a city whose downtown is such a car sewer that they built the world’s longest continuously connected skyway.
These are Moylan’s full comments on floating bus stop bike lanes. This is the sort of transport policy almost every other European nation would find deeply weird.
This seems excessive and retaliatory against the Councilman for daring to call out, on his personal Facebook page, an obviously racist personal attack directed at him. The Ethics Review Board needs to review its own ethics.
San Antonio’s Ethics Review Board fined District 2 Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez $1,000 after finding he violated the city’s ethics code. Read More👉 ebx.sh/YiEvMg
I found out that the witness signature requirement means I’m not actually able to vote by mail. The process of voting in-person is needlessly burdensome because of multiple disabilities. But the MN Supreme Court said 🖕 disabled voters. I may not be able to vote this fall.
BREAKING: In a loss for voters, the Minnesota Supreme Court upheld a state law requiring absentee ballots to include a witness signature. As a result, absentee voters must continue to: ✔️mark ballots in the presence of a witness ✔️sign a certificate stating all voter eligibility requirements are met
Coach Tuberville just made these people sound way cooler. The next time I fly, I’m going to be quite disappointed if the captain isn’t wearing rainbow-colored wolf ears.
Tommy Tuberville: Many airline pilots, flight attendants, and air traffic controllers are part of the furry community. It's terrifying.
Very disappointed that @amyklobuchar.com has been silent on trans rights when she’s running to be governor of a state that’s a trans refuge. The gubernatorial selection on my absentee ballot will be as empty as her platform on protecting trans people.

This is absolutely disgusting. Institutions that end pediatric gender-affirming care are intentionally inflicting potentially deadly harm on trans kids. Signing an agreement that allows the federal government to claim another victory in their anti-trans crusade is simply evil.
They keep dropping these on Friday afternoon for a news dump. www.justice.gov/opa/pr/doj-s...

I don’t count Stancil as a trans ally, and that was even before his latest “the transes are being sooo mean to me!” posting binge. Talarico made his choice. In an election where turnout is key, he potentially sacrificed that to make a play for people that aren’t going to vote for him anyway.
Speaking for myself, I find the idea that allowing Ken Paxton of all people to become a US Senator is somehow in the best interest of trans people (or immigrants or Muslims or the country as a whole) to be self-destructive and risks further alienating trans people from our allies

two years ago, i was allowed to use the women's room at the airport no problem. now, the texas state government can fine the airport thousands of dollars if i use the women's bathroom.
One of the more insidious phrasings I've seen with the Dems/trans rights discourse lately is the idea that trans people are being greedy and demanding a "maximalist" approach to trans rights. No, you cannot call the state of rights American trans people had as recently as 2023 "maximalist," sorry.
It can’t be shouted enough that we *recently had* so many of the rights we’re demanding. My legal name and sex identifier change was done in Texas in 2023!

Taylor is too generous. We know the Frey admin doesn't care about bus speed because they chose to have a $60+ million BRT project (E Line) get stuck in traffic against the recommendation of their own staff and Metro Transit.
faster transit is all the city cares about in this issue, they ignore that safety is people's top concern
Beto O’Rourke lost to Ted Cruz by only 2.6% despite committing the cardinal sin of talking about banning guns in Texas. Colin Allred threw trans kids under the bus in response to Cruz’s attack ads and Cruz won by 8.5%. James Talarico has basically handed the election to Ken Paxton.
i don't care what the issue is, if your election opponent is running millions of dollars in ads about one single issue, you cannot, under any circumstances, say that your opponent is right about the issue.
There just needs to be a dedicated (as in 24/7) continuous bus-only lane on Hennepin (and 1st Ave NE) between Uptown Transit Station and University/4th St SE. It’s like the E Line is successful in spite of really baffling and maddening decisions.
I'm not a frequent rush hour E Line rider, but whenever I am, I'm usually waiting a longer time at the station for buses that are bunched up, getting stuck in Uptown traffic, with lots of cars parked in the bus lane.

HHS is officially promoting a propaganda piece that basically says supporting treating trans people like human beings is dangerous. Even just using our names and pronouns.
Late last week, the HHS released a report claiming to show a link between "transgender ideology" and political violence. Among other bizarre features of this unpublished, non-peer reviewed paper it included a grand total of 13 transgender people. assignedmedia.org/breaking-new...

Seconding. And I'll add that when I (years ago) suggested it was weird how little attention this is getting as a factor in our uniquely-American pedestrian fatality numbers, nobody wanted to engage with my point. Almost like it's a "well it's fine when *I* do it" sort of thing.
