Every imagination, every vision, every dream, is something that happened, just in an alternate universe. Even drawn images and cartoons are just how things naturally look in a different world or universe, and our 'creativity' is just us seeing into that world.

Thanks, Wildwood (film) for making me post this. It is literally a flawless piece of art.

Very distinct taste to the glue of my ballot envelope this cycle. Tasted like Buttered Pasta.

Even if it means we need to single track every night with low frequencies, even if night trains are 1-2 cars only, I'd take it. Some service is better than the current 0, or the proposed loss.

The Sound Transit board is about to vote on a 2027 service plan that starts 2 Line service 25 minutes later every day and ends it 15 minutes earlier Mon-Saturday to provide more time for system maintenance. Claudia Balducci jumped in to say that the agency's goal should be running trains 24/7.

Park Row is at $150m in presales with 20% of units presold... despite construction not even starting yet and the building allegedly slated to open in 2029. Insane. We have demand for condos, we need to reform our laws to make them easier to build. Vancouver style, please!

Park Oriented Development needs to be a huge philosophy here in Seattle. Increase access to our parks with density, and transit to accompany it. Jackson Park could be Seattle's mini Central Park! New neighborhoods all around!

AvgZing@avgzing.com

Seattle Transit Measure priority... Parks access? Taller Denser Faster priority... Park Oriented Development? It says something that our most frequent service does not reach some of our best parks! Sorry, rich people - these parks are *public*

Waterfront news: Seawall Phase 2 (from Virginia to Broad, Phase 1 was S WA to Virginia) RFQ to release by EOY to advance design/permitting/etc beyond the current 35%.

It's funded with 1.15m for design but not the likely half-billion+ dollars that will be needed for construction (at ~3200' it's only slightly shorter than the ~3700' phase 1, which was $210M 2017- dollars).

The word "momentum" doesn't seem to be one that the Seattle area understands. Be it light rail, housing, politics, literally anything... we're very much a cyclical region, and it's happening again. Not for the better.

TIL. Knew this anecdotally, but never actually seen the facts. Worth reform for sure!

New UI. Much cleaner. Took me weeks to rewrite basically every element of the frontend (particularly for mobile compatibility), but I'm quite happy with it now.

Instead of being productive on the app today, I spent a couple hours working on a logo for it. Thoughts? Anyone recognize the colors? :D

Mayor Katie Wilson just got done with her live speech about her Seattle budget proposal. Looking forward to reading the details but in the meantime, what she said...

- Funding the groups and positions from past executive orders, including enforcement of rental junk fees and no cuts to existing housing assistance positions. - Ongoing funding for queer groups, immigration groups, refugee groups, job skills groups, decarbonization efforts, etc......

- New funding for 10 modular public restrooms at 140k/each, plus 2 new bathrooms in parks. Doubled parks scholarship budget. - Funding for a study of a 2027 bond for Seattle Center redevelopment. And a really damn good closing segment to the speech.

Focusing broadly on the services most visible to the public. - Delaying some transportation maintenance projects to close its massive deficit, but preserving vision zero and transit measure related investments. - Homelessness and shelter expansion.

- Growing SPD and CARE staffing levels. - Trims to spend at SPD and Fire Department, overtime and hiring benefits; broad focus on trimming excess $$. - Expanded night time services and free school food for children, among other citywide food access programs and the anti-algorithmic-pricing bill.

Notable cuts across the city, 1-8% per department on average. Vacant positions won't be filled, 15 workers fired. Filling the $175M through 2030 with no major new revenue. Diverting more from Jumpstart, down to just 30% for affordable housing.

ICYMI: The City of Seattle released a report last week on the state of our economy. Here are a few of my favorite snippets. Based on last week's executive order, (wilson.seattle.gov/2026/09/09/m...) the city seems willing to take action on these recommendations. Let's see what comes out of it.

One more, a good takeaway for the overall approach. Growth will solve our problems: we need to embrace it.

Environmental excuses against housing are just that: excuses. What building dense really does is prevent suburban sprawl clearcutting forests and simultaneously improve neighborhoods into newer, greener, more sustainable communities. Build more, build well, build lives, build homes.

Minecraft: I was thinking in the shower this morning about how for the eventual End Update, they can turn it into effectively a roguelike. It's already basically a roguelite, where you adventure out from the central island, get your loot, then return back via a gateway or via death.

They can lean into that idea of going out, getting things, and returning via a gateway... especially since the End isn't really the most "buildable" environment. Of course they'll need to strike a balance so that people who do want to build there can.... but I think it'd be a fun direction to go.

Oh, about that, I discovered a new library and decided to switch the entire architecture over to it. Lol. I shouldn't have this power. It's for the better... probably.

Restructure is almost done, which is great. Moving to edge cases, maintenance improvements, and visual polish... like this incredible underlay.

KUOW uses independent journalists for information, even *invites them onto KUOW shows*. But in yet another occurrence in Sound Politics' and their team's continued descent into platforming conservatives and deplatforming real journalists, they now publicly lie and mock their industry peers.

Erica C. Barnett@ericacbarnett.bsky.social

Their reporter, Cat Smith, then said, "we actually did have information in our story saying that Barnes' travel was basically in line with what Diaz and other past chiefs have done. It's a lot of travel. The position in Seattle, traveling is part of the job." One problem: They didn't have that info.

Until a road is 100% pedestrian only, it is not pedestrianized. If service vehicles or local access are allowed, people on the street must still be aware and in fear of a vehicle cutting them down. People can't sit and picnic in the middle of the road. That should not be considered pedestrianized.

This is rare for our area, fortunately, but even a single occurrence is one too many. Hoping that everyone is okay.

Seattle Fire and Police are currently responding to a mass shooting at the Seattle Center with at least six gunshot victims.

I am all about progressive politics. For that exact reason I will not be voting for Sawant. She is a fireball that has and will actively push people away from our causes. She would be a complete disaster in the house.

Gordon Padelford@gordonofseattle.bsky.social

Deeply embarrassing that the Stranger continues to avoid defending Sawant’s, IMO disqualifying, move to fly to Michigan to campaign against Kamala Harris, where she said “this is ground zero to punish Kamala Harris and defeat her.” I voted for Sawant previously, but never will again

this is thanksgiving break should i go

Intellectually I know that The Hague is a real place and things other than The International Criminal Court exist there. I was still not prepared to read the sentence: “Shrek Rave Is Coming To The Hague!”

Meanwhile, after successfully extracting another soul, Mitch McConnell has come back to life. And we've got a long ways to go before he's gone again.

BREAKING: Graham Officially Withdraws from Life

Gosh, he died so young. The average life expectancy for a senator is until the heat death of the universe so it's sad to see him go so early.

I'm seeing a theory that they've extracted his life force so Mitch can show up on monday like nothing ever happened

"How many states do you propose?" "There will be at least twenty three" "Can you name them?" "Don't play games with me, kid"

an absolutely incredible hillary clinton post that flew under the radar yesterday. the 23 state solution

Some of y'all transit advocates have absolutely awful takes, just going to start blocking on sight. What fantasy world do you expect us to live in? We can always strive to do better, but a lack of perfection doesn't mean you suggest crashing and burning an agency that is trying it's damn best.

This should be our opportunity to use the massive amounts of money that AI is creating to reinvest in huge solar farms, modern nuclear plants, a clean resilient energy grid!! But we're not doing that, so instead everyone's fighting over energy.
