The protected bike lanes along Bloor Street West between Islington and Royal York are gone, but we want to ensure folks in Etobicoke-Lakeshore can safely bike to the polls on Monday. Cycle Toronto will be leading a complimentary bike bus on Election Day through this new gap in our cycling network.

"Breach of trust", because ... possession of property obtained by crime, attempt to obstruct justice, possession of counterfeit stamp, possession of drugs for trafficking, and unauthorized accessing data ... would make it sound as if we have a serious law enforcement problem in the GTA.

This is a good read for anyone interested in Brampton politics. It isn't an attack story, nor a gushing one, just the facts presented for consideration on the eve of another election. Good journalism.

Talk to enough people in Brampton and two distinct versions of Patrick Brown emerge. The first is a tireless public servant who transformed a dysfunctional city hall. The second is something else entirely. thelocal.to/patrick-brow...

He's good for Brampton but as a lifelong NDPer I wouldn't vote him in any Conservative role. I had an opportunity for brief one-on-one visit with him in his office, thanked him, expressed respect, but told him I wouldn't vote for him as a provincial or federal Conservative! He grinned.

When Trudeau resigned I texted a sitting Councilor to pass on to him that he should cross over to the Liberals and run for the leadership, because I see him as a centrist. Included in the text I said he'd be running against Carney, months before Carney even hinted he'd run. They're both centrists.

I served 2 terms on Brampton Committees of Council (2018-2026) so I was closer to the backroom rumblings than the average citizen. All in all I would say he is and was mostly fair, when it came to his attention on city matters. But I do believe he'd jump ship to provincial or federal in a hearbeat.

This also rendered useless the new interceptor drones used to target incoming drones which rely on Starlink to connect to targeting data from the ground. It was an insidious way to make Ukraine's two 𝘩𝘶𝘨𝘦 tech advantages for attack and defense useless. Please find someone who can make this clear. 🙏

@nicollewallace.bsky.social: I see many journos are getting what 'slowing down' Starlink means wrong. It's not the speed of the connection slowed down, it was a 100mph speed 𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘵 that a vehicle could stay connected. Any speed 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘷𝘦 100mph cut off Ukraine's drones that use it, making them useless. 👇

Adding the word referendum to my list of mute words. Hopefully that will reduce the time-wasting trash posts about Alberta and Québec politics from coming across my timeline for the next few years.

If we ask Doug Ford to do something about lawlessness on Ontario roads his response would probably be ... "what can I do, disband police teams assigned to stolen insured replaceable cars crime and reassign them to traffic laws enforcement to stop drivers from killing people ... go away youse yahoos"

LLMs are populist machines. When we ask a question it doesn't "think" an answer, it fires up the tumbler of pre-existing human discoveries and knowlege and when an assembly of a plausible answer bubbles to the top it feeds it to us as a gospel.

The longer we let these algorithms run wild the closer we'll get to a dystopian world governed by selfish popular opinions presented as the "token of probability" ... void of desirable humanitarian traits. Armageddonmaxxing

🔎 Alberta journo request 🔎: Can anyone think of any immigration experts (academics, lawyers etc.) who can speak to the impact of Alberta going forward with the referendum questions that seem set to pass? Trying to find someone who gets the nuts and bolts of the immigration system.

My sourdough starter sat untouched in the fridge all summer, turned black, and smelled like death. I scraped off the black, salvaged some from the bottom, and fed it for a few days, and look at my beautiful yeastie boys now! We're so back!

Hmmmm a flight from New York to Israel declared an emergency out over the Atlantic and turned back towards Newfoundland. I was tracking it and it went black just before reaching the NFLD shore near Gander. Hopefully it's just a radar problem and not it falling out of the sky.

We've lost our way. Commerce and corporations have become the reason for living rather than a means to an end. Corporate structures and purpose, along with government policies supporting it, have led to the general population being controlled by the extreme greed of a few. We urgently need a reset.
